Darkpaw's Warrior Ceremony

The new Riverclan leader left his lonely den and leapt on the Willow Branch, knowing it was time for Darkpaw's ceremony. Due to the sudden changes of leaders and Ivystar's death, her ceremony was delayed but finally, she would be a Riverclan warrior. He took a long and deep breath and faced his clan not as the deputy but as the leader. He felt strange, a bit uneasy. Jaystar wasn't truly used to being called by his new name but he knew, with time, he would feel more comfortable with it. Darkpaw was also going to receive a new name, they shared that now. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather beneath the willow branch for a clan meeting!" He yowled, standing proudly.

Her paws carried her swiftly to the center of camp at the sound of Jaystream's voice. They only dragged ever so slightly as she reminded herself silently that he was Jaystar now. Of course, she loved and respected the gray-blue tom, but his change in role was a reminder that Ivystar was gone. Presumably for good. The only thing that had cheered her up was recently spending time with her Thunderclan friend and many others within her own clan. Although, they too were plagued with the knowledge their former leader was gone. The split-faced calico settled down and looked up to the new leader as she waited to hear what they were gathering for today. Darkpaw had been a warrior for quite some time, and while not losing the dream of being a warrior, she was quite contented with where she was at and with everything going on had not considered the possibility for some time.

Shadefang narrowed his eyes up at Jaystar from where he laid in the warriors' den, refusing to leave his spot when the leader called for the Clan to gather round. He was now the second RiverClan leader he had absolutely no respect of -- this must be a new record for any Clan cat.

The apprentice in question did catch his eye, however. He didn't know Darkpaw well at all, but what he was able to pick up was how naive she was. And now that she was going to become a warrior in mere moments, perhaps he could use her ignorance to his advantage...

The blue-grey leader fixed his eyes on the calico she-cat. He lifted his tail slightly and with a small movement of his whiskers, he opened his mouth to start the ceremony. "Darkpaw, Snowblossom has confirmed that you are ready to undertake your warrior ceremony. If you believe this to be true, step forward now for it to begin." He mewed loud enough so everyone could hear him clearly. For Riverclan, it was always good to have more warriors, especially strong cats like Darkpaw was. Even if she wasn't the biological of the fierce Silverfang, she knew that her mother taught her own strong loyalty to the clan. Somehow, he trusted her for that. In times like this, it was always a relief to know his clan would be well under the guards of toms and she-cats like her.

At the sound of her name, Darkpaw's eyes widened. This was it, this was her ceremony. Immediately her chest began to well up with a mixture of pride and excitement. She was back on her paws in an instant, ready to present herself in front of the clan. Although she had doubts about her ability as a warrior, mostly unfounded but still present, the apprentice was ready to give all that she could to Riverclan. A change in leadership did not make any difference for her. While she had once hoped to serve under Ivystar, she would try just as fiercely for Jaystar. Once settled in place in front of the leader, she nodded stiffly towards him, a growing confidence exuded from her demeanor.
