Raccoonkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Another Raccoonkit... son of Spotfur. It was far gone the days when Raccoonpaw died under the claws and fangs of a fox and now, a tom-kit that shared his name was about to become an apprentice. He wished Starclan had a better fate for him than for Silverfang's son. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather beneath the willow branch for a clan meeting!" Jaystream called once he was up on the branch for another gathering inside the camp.

Raccoonkit walked out. He looked at the Deputy.

Jaystream laid his eyes on the young cat and flicked his tail, announcing everyone that he was about to start. "Raccoonkit, please step forward."

Once Spotfur's son was in front of him, the deputy, from the top of the branch, puffed up his chest to look more proudly and confident. "Raccoonkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Raccoonpaw. Your mentor will be Reedclaw, who has served our clan for many moons. I'm sure he will pass all his knowledge to you." Although he knew that Reedclaw was probably still grieving Sweetheart's death, he felt like maybe a young apprentice might lighten up his life. It had been a while since he was a mentor and he deserved a second chance to train a young cat.

Raccoonpaw nodded.

Spotfur licked his son's forehead. "I'm sure you'll do great, Raccoonpaw! Be good for my brother, will you?"
