Heatherkit’s Apprentice Ceremony

The late morning air was fragrant with the sweet smells of fresh growth and summer winds. Smoothly pulling herself atop the Tallrock, Brindlewhisker hardly skipped a beat before yowling out the familiar summons, ”Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather underneath the Tallrock for a Clan meeting!"

Heatherkit heard the yowl and walked over immediately. She kept turning around and watching everyone come out of there dens. She then look up at the deputy and have a hopeful sigh that she would be apprenticed

Catching sight of the hopeful expression upon the Heatherkit’s features, Brindlewhisker flashed a playful wink in the young she-kit’s direction. Out of all of her duties, this could definitely become a favorite. "Heatherkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to find your place among the Clan. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Heatherpaw. Shadefall will be your mentor. I hope she will pass down all she knows on to you."

Shadefall pricked her ears when she heard her name. She smiled. She was going to mentor her own daughter! Shadefall padded up to Heather and touched her her nose to her daughter's. "Just because i'm your mother it doesn't mean i am going to go easy on you." She purred. "Training starts at dawn." Shadefall smiled as the memory of Nectarleap, her father, being chosen to mentor her came to her mind. It had been so long ago, and the fact that both of them had one of their parents as their mentor summoned a warm feeling inside of her.

She looked over at her mother and ran over. She then touched noses with her. "Why can't it be in the evening when the sun is setting and it's cool outside? "
