Lambkit's Apprentice Ceremony

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath Jaggedrock for a Clan meeting!" Scorchfang commanded loudly, his voice ringing through ShadowClan's camp. It was time for another apprentice-naming ceremony -- a long overdue ceremony at that, for the little sickly kit was assumed to be as good as dead in a matter of days since her birth. She seemed to be showing better symptoms of recovery, and after a discussion with Littlestar and Nettlesting the three of them decided now would be as good a time as ever to finally give Lambkit the chance to live as an apprentice she deserved.

Hauling herself out of her nest on aching joints, pain lanced through her small body as per usual. Nonetheless, the thin she-cat didn't let her frailties stop her and walked just outside of the nursery to observe the clan gathering as best she could. It was likely just some kit's apprentice ceremony or something of the like. Half paying attention, she rasped her tongue over her forelegs to try and ease a bit of the pain under the guise of grooming her sleep-rumpled pelt. Hopefully this would be quick.

Scorchfang noticed Lambkit's uncomfortable expressions as she limped into the open out of the nursery and had to bite his tongue to avoid frowning sympathetically. He knew she would survive, he just knew. Perhaps actually getting some exercise as a warrior in training would help keep her limber and loose, and her drive to become the best ShadowClan warrior she could possibly be would override her obvious pain until eventually she wouldn't even think of it anymore.

"We are gathered here today for a ceremony that is long overdue for one of our dear kits. She has proved herself a warrior through fighting through her sickly kithood, and Littlestar and I both agree that now is the time to reward her of her strength and determination. Lambkit, please step forward." He smiled down at the kit in question.

"Lambkit, you may have exceeded the required age to begin your apprenticeship, but every cat must move at their own pace, and I feel you are now ready to begin your training," Scorchfang began. "From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you shall be known as Lambpaw. Your mentor will be Newtface. He may be training an apprentice already, but I know he will be able to take on another. Congratulations, Lambpaw."

Lambpaw nodded, a hint of a smile ghosting over the she-cat's features as she bowed her head politely to him, "Thank you, Scorchfang. I'll do my best."
