Nettlesting was sure of his choice to protect Silentpaw by making her his apprentice. She was a kind cat, that he could toughen up. All she needed was a little push. The reddish tom was very pushy, and could handle that job. The act of taking on an apprentice had made him reflect heavily on his position. It was a burden on him not being able to take a mate, and he felt seperate from his clan. An apprentice would fix that. He would have someone for the really first time in his life to relate to. But then again, what if he died like Roaringblaze? Like Honeydrop? ShadowClan seemed to be plagued with early medicine cat deaths. Was the urge to take on an apprentice a call to return to StarClan? He hoped not. Finally, the tom stood and brought the bundle out to the edge of the den, passing the nests. He had spent all day fixing up a nest for Silentpaw. It was way more comfortable than his. Fresh moss, feathers, and some rabbit fur he tucked away graced the sturdy nest. He even moved it to the shadows, so she wouldn't be waken with the sun. He put his nest there. He hid a piece of plumper prey for her to eat when they return.
Nevertheless, it was time to leave. His green eyes landed on Silentpaw walking up to him.
