Waiting for the Sun [Event]

Swiftpaw made his way into the middle of camp where a crowd had begun to gather. His fluffy white fur was ruffled, and the mere mention of the dogs. In his long while as an apprentice, the tom had fought badgers, raccoons, and even an eagle, but he'd never had an encounter with a dog. He's seen them around the territory, and the massive, hulking creatures made him want to run back to camp immediately. The apprentices' only worries now were if Rookpaw was alright. He hoped that the dogs hadn't made their way to WndClan's territory, and he hoped that they never would. The large tom watched as his mentor spoke about formulating a plan for removing the dogs. He jumped slightly, turning all of his attention to what the leader had to say. "I'll do whatever I can to help." If it meant helping keep Rookpaw and his Clan safe, he'd do anything.

His head filled with thoughts as soon as the dogs burst into camp, and he backed closer and closer to the nursery as Crowstar had said. 'But... But I wanna help!' Even though the call was for apprentices to help the queens protect the kits, Swiftpaw wanted to help fight, not stay in the nursery! His eyes drifted across camp, and then back to the nursery directly behind him. What would Moonlight do? She'd for sure protect the kits, but his mind was still in conflict. Surely there were enough apprentices to protect the kits, right? "Moonlight!" He wouldn't let the dogs come close to his mother. But... What if she needed help protecting the kits? The poor young tom was stuck. He could help his Clan and disobey his leader and mentor, or he could do as he was told and sit back to watch his Clanmates get hurt. With one last glance towards the nursery, he darted out towards the closest dog, a large black one. There was a quick expression of terror on his face as it managed to knock Tinypaw to the side in one hit, but the tom knew it was too late to cower back into the nursery. At least Tinypaw was a distraction for the dog, that way he had the element of surprise on his side.

Rippedsky dropped back down on all fours for a moment to regain his balance. The plan was to dart around the dogs and confuse it. But, he was stalled for a second as he watched horrifically sharp teeth sink into Hawkstrike. Wounds were expected, yet it was still a striking thing to see cats harmed within the supposed safety of their own camp. Skyclan, which he had always known to be a peaceful and safe place, was now a battle zone. The screeching and yowls of his clanmates echoed around him. It was drowned out as the anger began to rise up in his chest and everything else faded. In the back of his mind was the concern, the drive that fueled him forwards, but the deputy only had one mission. Protect the other cats who were fending off the black dog.

He whirled around and kicked out with his hindlegs that had developed from leaping through the trees. They struck the creature's jowls and the unsheathed claws only continued to rip away at flesh. As soon as he whirled back around, front paws continued to do the same. Rippedsky seemed to dance around the dog. Windclan speed and agility had never left the black and white tom. Hopefully, he was able to confuse it and distract it from harming any of his clanmates in the process. If anyone died because of his inability to help solve this problem before now, he would likely never forgive himself.

Mumblefoot was thrown off almost immediately by the thrashing of the brute. It was unexpected. The massive dog was much larger than the foxes, or even other cats, he had faced before. As he raised himself up onto shaky paws, only to see his former mentor be crushed between the monster's jaws, the tom trembled ever so slightly. It was hard not to let hopelessness crash over him at that moment. If Hawkstrike, one of the best warriors of the clan, was able to be caught between its teeth and be seriously wounded, he could only imagine what would happen to him, or Drizzlepaw. Or even Poplartooth for that matter. Even if the large brown and white tom was strong and impressive, he found himself swallowing back the fear of any of his clanmates being hurt.

With a deep breath, the deputy's son threw himself back into the fray. Given its large stature and his tiny one in comparison, the large warrior was easily able to slip underneath it. His claws scored through its soft belly fur with ease. Thankfully, with so many opponents, it was distracted.

Echo looked back at Moonlight with a reassuring look. "Don't worry, they're too busy to go after you." she said warmly. She repeated the sentence under her breathe to herself. She was worried. She rarely even fought. She looked at a nearby pine tree that was near the back corner of the nursery. She took a breathe. The tribe taught her to be quick. The clans taught her to be strong, to be brave. She looked at the black dog. She inhaled sharply. "I'll make sure of that!" she quickly said to the queens and kits in the nursery before sprinting to the tree. 'Be quick, silent, relaxed...' the words spoke themselves in her head as she borderline ran up the tree. When she found a good branch, she jumped up and grabbed it before crouching on it and breathing slowly. 'Be patient, focused, precise...' more words came as she fixed her blue eyes on the brown dog. At first, she targeted the black dog, but there were too many cats attacking. It was a few moments before a cat was knocked out of the swarm surrounding the canine, than immediately she fully unsheathed her claws and leaped for him. '...and then strike'

Ripplepaw let out a shrill squeal of alarm as Tinypaw was quickly knocked down. In one strike. Just like that. The apprentice was visibly shaking with fear. She should have gone to the nursery, like Crowstar said. But now she was here, she couldn’t run away with her tail between her legs. The safety of SkyClan was at sake! She tried to leap forwards, but was slowed down by her leg. Ugh! She hoped it would have healed by now. Instead, the young apprentice just repeated her move from last time by swiping her claws through the air at the dog. The older, more experienced warriors could harm it seriously. She was just here to... What was she doing?!

Gaze widening as the dog, despite its smaller and presumably weaker stature, easily sent Tinypaw staggering off to the side, Elmcloud had to force himself to duck off to the side for a brief heartbeat to avoid staying in close range. Watching as more and more of his Clanmates flung themselves into the fray, the tom's intense sense of wrath and desperation only heightened. Watching as Ripplepaw distracted the eerily calm dog, Elmcloud darted forward and slipped beneath the dark-furred dog, wildly raking and tearing at the tender flesh of the dog's exposed belly.

The smell of blood, a cry of pain, and Sedgestrike felt his pelt burn with hatred. How dare that beast. How dare it. His green eyes narrowed threateningly as he took advantage of the dog's position to jump onto a nearby tree. His claws left deep scores on the branch as he flung himself off it and onto the head and neck of the brown dog, his claws shredded into the flesh.

The silver tom was quick to jump out of the way after the last move, and spared a glance at the other cats who all seemed okay for now as he plunged back into the fight with a battle yowl.

Luckily, Pineheart's fear didn't come true. She hauled herself up from her feet with no attention from the dog. But as she looked around she realized that while she was still safe some of her clanmates were groaning on the ground with cuts and wounds. Anger blossomed inside of her. How dare they? Without a second thought she sprung off of the ground, claws unsheathed. As she got close to the black mutt she twisted herself onto her back and slid under it's underbelly. She quickly slid her claws across it's white stomach. Blood splattered in her face and she begged internally for it to be over soon but she couldn't stop. She slid out of the other end, taking a moment to catch her breath.

It wasn't even a question of whether or not she would join the fight. Dandeliondapple charged in, roaring and caterwauling with fury at the dogs invading her Clan's camp. With the intensity of LionClan, she leaped up at the black dog, thrumming its head with her paws. She kept going and going, unrelenting in an attempt to finally send it packing. Hopefully, it was weak enough to scare off. Her claws sliced across its face, drawing copper-tasting blood that splashed on her dappled pelt. The red stained her white fur and made her cream spots look dark.

Honeypaw was just outside of camp when she heard it -- the snarling and yowling and barking! Her fur stood on end; any thoughts of battle training in the forest abandoned. With a lack of thought that would have made her mentor proud, Honeypaw spun around -- her paws gliding across the ground as she raced toward the sound of chaos, heart pounding in he ears.

The thick scent of blood filled her senses as she broke past the barrier of foliage -- only to stop abruptly at the sight of the two huge beasts. They were thrashing and snapping at the throng of battling cats, red streaks painting their fur. Fear hit her but only just before the rage -- and when Honeypaw saw Sedgestrike fling himself down from a branch, hissing at the dark brown creature, it spurred her to action.

She hadn't trained for very long, but Honeypaw had trained hard -- and had been waiting for the moment to defend her clan all her life. It was in her blood -- her roots as a Skyclan cat -- to defend her clan against all who would dare threaten them!

With a roar, Honeypaw launched herself at the brown dog her mentor was attacking -- running to ram into its shoulder with all of her strength!

As the other cats of SkyClan joined in the fight, Russetpelt felt an adrenaline rush. Though he felt a little anxious when he noticed that so many apprentices ignored Crowstar’s orders and were joining in. He leaped once again at the black dog, raking his claws on its belly.

Amberpaw shook in her fur, her blue-green eyes wide with shock as two lumbering dogs broke into camp, their large slobbering jaws tearing into cats. Oh dear Starclan! With bristling furs, the young apprentice leaped for the nursery as instructed her claws unsheathed as she watched the dogs and the swarm of cats writhing over them like a swarm.

Quietpaw, dainty as a snowflake, had just opened eyes and woken up to see the bloodshed happening in SkyClan camp. Unshaken, the light gray apprentice slid out of the den, fur bristling when he noticed the black dog fighting. Lowering his head and with a lash of his tail, the apprentice ducked and dove, slashing with his claws at the dog's soft stomach, earning a yelp of pain.

Firpaw twitched in surprise at the sudden touch and her face briefly cleared of any sign of stress once she laid eyes on Cloudroar. She watched him speak carefully, and though he couldn't see it, her eyes softened. While the information was of course terrifying, she was grateful for the tom's willingness to help her despite his own concerns. 'Of course, whether it's "tog" or "dog", who knows!' The she-cat let a purr rumble in her throat - the only sound she could produce accurately, given that she could feel it herself - and momentarily pressed into the white warrior's side to show him her thanks.

That lasted only a heartbeat, however. Soft vibrations from the ground alerted her to something lingering outside of camp, and it appeared that her Clanmates' attentions had been caught as well. Then a hulking beast the color of tree bark burst into camp, causing absolute chaos. Another, this one black and white, came in behind it, smaller, but no less dangerous. Firpaw couldn't move, not until the battle was fully raging. Tinypaw's beaten form snapped her out of that state. Her frost blue eyes flashed to the practically unguarded nursery, knowing full well that the kits, as well as Moonlight, were still inside. She looked from the den, to the dogs, then finally to Cloudroar. Shaking her head to clear her conflicting thoughts, she quickly pressed into his shoulder and took off, letting her paws snap a few twigs in hopes he would hear where she had gone.

Feeling the stomps and low growls from the fight, she leaped towards the nursery, nearly barreling into Moonlight on the way in. Once inside, she realized how little danger she probably posed to the creatures. The warrior-sized apprentice gently touched her tail to the older she-cat's flank before peering outside. 'At least I could distract them if necessary.' Strangely, she could only think of the warrior she'd been next to moments before. 'But StarClan pray that I don't.'



The weak sun had almost lulled Scorchbranch to sleep once again, but the horrible growls made his eyes snap open and the remaining fur on his back stand on end. Dogs. The flashes of yellow teeth and giant claws against his Clanmates were all he could see. Unsure of what productive thing to do, the mangled tom hobbled towards the nursery, pacing in front of the entrance. He couldn't think. He couldn't speak. All he could do was keep his gaze locked on the pair of disgusting creatures.

Nestled up to the safety of Starlingkit, she was almost able to ignore the rumbling of the large dogs that lumbered into camp. As she heard the battle yowls of the warriors, her pelt prickled, and she silently padded up to the entrance of the den to watch in shock and horror as the dogs faught the entirety of Skyclan. Her heart leapt into her throat seeing her own father leap out into the battle.

She felt the prickle of her neck ruffle, then a strange feeling come into her paws. She wanted to claw and strike down the dogs that were daring to attack her home, her kin. Her clan. Without thinking, she ran out of the nursery, she was almost apprentice age anyways and batted at the black dog's hind leg with a hiss.
