Goldenkit's Apprentice Ceremony

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath Jaggedrock for a Clan meeting!" Scorchfang called. The only other time he felt this overjoyed was when he held the apprentice ceremony of his dear son Lionpaw. Now it was his daughter Goldenkit's turn to become apprenticed. And he already had the perfect mentor in mind for her.

Goldenkit bounced out of the nursery at the request of Scorchfang. Her parents had told her that today would be her apprentice ceremony and she had been so excited all day. Finally it was her chance!

She skipped proudly forward to the base of the rock, and looked up with wide eyes and a glowing face.

Scorchfang felt as if he were about to burst with pride, standing taller as Goldenkit appeared from the nursery. "Goldenkit, step forward," he meowed, waiting for her daughter to do so before continuing. "You have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. Goldenkit, from this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you shall be known as Goldenpaw. Minnowcall will be your mentor. I have total confidence she will pass down all she knows on to you." Now that his mate would be leaving the nursery now that Goldenpaw was old enough to begin her training, it only seemed logical to finally grant Minnowcall her first apprentice.

Goldenkit stared up at her father, and over-excited jumped forward at his call, so that she toppled over her own front paws a bit. Regaining her composure, she beamed at him as he began announcing her apprenticeship.

'Goldenpaw now, wow!', she thought to herself. 'Finally, I'm a big cat!' This thought was overtaken by Scorchfang's next statement. Minnowcall was going to be her mentor! "Mommy!", she exclaimed while stepping towards her mother to nuzzle her chest. She looked up at her mother and said, "We're gonna have so much fun! And I'll be the best warrior's apprentice. And you'll make me the best warrior ever so quick!!" She just couldn't hold her excitement in any longer and began hopping around in a small circle.

Minnowcall who had followed her daughter out of the nursery now walked up to her in front of the clan and touched noses with her "I'll make sure you become one of the best warriors" she whisperd to Goldenpaw and licked her cheek "My beautiful daughter" she mumbled lovingly.
