Newtface, from where he sat at the camp exit, stared up at the sky with narrowed, groggy yellow eyes. It was early, and he would rather be asleep, however, the breathtaking scenery of the colorful, serene sunrise sky seemed to make it all worth it. The tom wrapped his tail tightly around his paws as he waited for the rest of his patrol to join him. He couldn't help but imagine what it would be like for Rosepetal to be there with him, patrolling with him, laughing with him... living with him. Other cats would remember her as Rosepaw, but she would always be Rosepetal in his heart.

"Ready?" Curlyfeather mumbled, padding over to Newtface. In the morning she was even grumpier than normal, having just been torn away from the peaceful realm of sleep. Being assigned a patrol wasn't too bad, better than having to find her own and deciding half the clan saw her as invisible. Life could be worse. But not too much. Looking at the tom she had to patrol with, she had to say that she really didn't pity him. When Daypaw had died, she hadn't gone all sad constantly. It had just made her more determined to make sure no more loved ones died. Same when Lilacfall died. Besides, he still had all his sense in tact. In her opinion, he had no right to act that depressed when even she, the grumpiest and most internally conflicted cat in al the clans, was coping just fine.

Wildpaw walked out of the apprentice den "Ugh why do we have to go out so early?" he mumbled in annoyance as he walked over to Newtface and Curlyfeather.
He looked at them both and meowed "I'm ready". He glanced out of camp, if he ever saw a single badger again he would kill that thing, alone. It had killed Sootpaw and almost Thornpaw while had had just stood by and watched, he hadn't been able to move, he had just stared while it happen, he might could have saved them but he didn't. He gently shook his head as he felt his eyes starting to tear up, no he wouldn't cry not now, not later, never, he would avenge Sootpaws death.

ooc; we'll each have three hunting posts. if someone rolls a 10, we'll all fight the predator off together. after the fight, we can either head back to camp or continue to hunt, depending on which turn we're all on.

Newtface met Curlyfeather's gaze when she padded over and nodded in her direction.
"Yeah, we just need to wait for Wildpaw."
Where was that apprentice?
When Wildpaw padded over and the first thing that came from his mouth was a complaint, Newtface shot the young tom a glare.
"Do you want to have something to eat tonight?" The speckled tom asked, clearly irritated, "If so, then I suggest you stop whining and catch some prey."
With that, the tom flicked his tail to indicate that the two of them follow him. Once they were out into the territory, he glanced back at the two of them.
"Split up. Wildpaw, don't stray too far from either me or Curlyfeather. Once you catch three pieces of prey, meet back here. Try not to take all day."

Afterward, the tortoiseshell tom branched away from the group and headed towards the prey that he could smell so clearly. When he spotted a frog that was hopping through the marsh, he instantly made it his priority to catch it. Stalking the little creature silently, Newtface waited until the frog stopped with its back facing him. Then, he leaped, claws unsheathed, straight towards his prey. The unsuspecting frog let out a croak as the ShadowClanner landed squarely on top of it and killed it with a swift bite. Hunting made him think of Rosepetal, so he wasn't as proud of his catch as he could've been. Silently burying it, the speckled tom leaped off to find more prey to catch.

Curlyfeather silently followed Newtface out of camp, honestly unable to care less about what they were talking about. That was the one good thing about being deaf; she didn't need to hear the annoying chatter of her clanmates. Scenting the air, she caught the trail of a mouse. The furry rodents were rather tasty, and they were the easiest things for her to catch. Though she still did search for something else, something a bit larger, she found nothing. Following the mouse's trail, she located the brown creature. This would be easy. Sliding into a hunter's crouch, she took infinite care not to make a sound as she stalked closer. The creature was so absorbed with eating something or other that it somehow missed her. Grinning, the warrior pounced on it, delivering a killing bite before it even realized what was going on. Smirking, she carried it back over to the group. Maybe she would get something bigger next time.

Wildpaw glared at Newtface and mumbled something unhearable and stalked of shortly after they got out of camp. He quickly caught the scener of a toad and followed the scent until he saw the slimy creature.

He pounced on it and dug his claws into it’s green body, killing it in one swipe. He grinned and dug a small home to bury it in while he keept hunting. The spotted apprentice looked around for his next piece of prey. He yawned quietly and streatched a little.
