Orchidkit's Apprentice Ceremony

"Let all cats old enough to hunt their own prey, gather beneath the willow branch for a clan meeting!" After Hailpaw's ceremony, the deputy enjoyed the celebration or his two kits before stepping over the branch again. After all, he had ten sons and daughters and he still had eight ceremonies to do. Now, it was Orchidkit's turn, though she probably didn't know it.

Orchidkit walked out of the nursery with a tired yawn. She wanted to know what this meeting was about. She groomed her fur and looked up at Jaystream with droopy eyes. She had just awoken from a nap so she was still needing to wake up fully.

As a father, Jaystream thought that his sleepy kit was the cutest and most beautiful she-cat in all the clans as well as her sisters. It was hard to see how fast they grew and that he soon had to let all of his kits go and follow their own path. "Orchidkit, please step forward."

The deputy smiled and continued the ceremony. "Orchidkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and now it is time for you to be apprenticed. From now on you will be known as Orchidpaw until the day you're ready to become a warrior. Your mentor will be Silverfang, who recently finished Shadepaw's training. She might be younger than other warriors but her fierceness and loyalty can't be doubted. She trained her apprentice well and I hope she passes you the same knowledge and abilities." He purred kindly. Although he knew about Silverfang short-temper and how strict she was, the tom knew that she was one of the most capable mentors. She somehow controlled Shadepaw's fury and he was sure that she would Orchidpaw into the right way.



Silverfang glanced at her deputy and nodded respectfully when he gave her another apprentice. The silvery she-cat approached Jaystream's daughter and touched noses with her, giving her a determined glare with her odd eyes. "I warn you that I'm not a soft mentor so I expect tomorrow at dawn at the entrance of the camp to start your training. Don't be late." With that said, the she-cat stepped back so other cats could greet the new apprentice.


As the she-kit moved forward, the newly appointed apprentice joined her clanmates and she did a small smile when she heard her sister's name. So she was the next on the list, she thought silently as her green eyes looked at Orchidkit.

Her happiness only grew as the ceremony continued and when the she-cat received her apprentice name, Hailpaw stood up in a second to join the celebration. "Orchidpaw! Orchidpaw!" She called her name before approaching her sister. The apprentice nudged her playfully and smiled, truly happy for her.
