Sedgepaw's Warrior Ceremony

Crowstar jumped onto the tall branch and called out to his clan. "Let all cats old enough to climb a tree gather here for a clan meeting!"

Sedgepaw padded out of the apprentices den. He settled near the front of the gathered cats with interest as he looked up at Crowstar. What was this about? Were they going to war? His silver and black spotted pelt prickled at the thought. He was ready if that was true.

"Today, we gather to make an apprentice a warrior. Sedgepaw, please step forward."

It had been a long few moons for sure. Sedgepaw had been a pawful since the first day and proven the same time and time again. However, he had noticed a change in the young tom's thinking overtime. Even if he had not shaken all of his reckless and bold nature, that was a part of who he was.  He would learn as he grew as a warrior. Once Sedgepaw stepped forwards. Once more, his voice echoed into the cat-filled clearing, "I, Rippedsky, deputy of Skyclan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this cat. He has trained hard to learn the ways of your noble code, and I commend him to you as a warrior in his turn." Like usual, his blue eyes looked up to the stars as he called to the warrior ancestors to recognize him as a clan warrior.

"Sedgepaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?" He questioned him, already fairly sure what the response would be. His apprentice had dreamed of being a warrior since the first day. The deputy's features were expressionless as he repeated the normal ceremonial words, but inside his chest was bursting with pride as he looked down at his apprentice. Sedgepaw had come so far despite everything. The leader had grown quite attached to the aggravating young cat. It was finally time for Sedgepaw to take her place alongside them.

Sedgepaw stepped forward. He stared at Rippedsky with a pleased, and slightly smug look on his muzzle. His tail flicked as he listened to his mentor's words. Ones he had heard so many times, but felt different when called for him. His pelt prickled in anticipation for a moment he had been long awaiting. This was his moment. His chance.

"Of course I do." He declared proudly. His chest puffed out as he fought back a sarcastic response. It wasn't Rippedsky's fault that the ceremonial words were so obvious that it hurt. Who would become a warrior to not defend their clan? Rogues probably, kittypets definitely. He shoved the thought away to enjoy and embrace in his ceremony instead, this would only happen once. He should probably listen to Rippedsky one more time.

"Then by the powers of Starclan, I give you your warrior name. Sedgepaw, from this day forward, you will be known as Sedgethornstrike. Starclan honors your drive and strength, and we welcome you as a full warrior of Skyclan." Rippedsky meowed finally, officially giving the tom his full warrior name. He looked down at the tom who had been his apprentice for quite some time now. It seemed like just yesterday he had held the silver warrior's apprentice ceremony. Time passed far too quickly. Sighing at the thought, Rippedsky leaped down to congratulate Sedgestrike on his new title.

His silver chest puffed out proudly, he shot a slightly arrogant look at Mumblefoot before he padded to Rippedsky.
"You won't regret this." He promised, a sensation of achievement filling him with joy. He had finally made it. He was a warrior, and tonight he would sit vigil for the clan and hunt freely for his clanmates in the morning. No longer would leaving camp break the rules. Nor did Rippedsky hold more power over him. Despite being the deputy, Sedgestrike couldn't help viewing him as an equal, rather than a superior.
