Leafstorm trudged along, his head low. Why bother patrolling? Why bother doing anything? It wasn't like he'd be good at it anyways. After all the terrible things that he caused- the death of Thistlepaw, Coyotefang, and his own mate -he didn't have the right to be good at anything.
His eyes were dull as he turned to the rest of his patrol, checking on each of them. They, unlike him, didn't do anything wrong. His clanmates were the most important things now, and he would sacrifice himself for each and every one of them.
Not that he deserved to die. That would be too merciful. No, he deserved much, much worse than death.
Even as he walked, memories of Specklefang pushed their way into his mind like stubborn flies. She wouldn't just let herself be like this. She'd pick herself up and move on with her life.
There was another thing he was terrible at- moving on.
This was how most of Leafstorm's days passed. Mentally reprimanding himself for nothing in a vicious, endless cycle. How would he ever get himself out of this mess?
A strange tickling sensation brought Leafstorm's head out of the clouds. What was that on his nose? He shook his head and looked down.
Was that... a leaf?
The entire thing was big enough to obscure half his face, and Leafstorm stopped in his tracks, taken aback at the absurd simplicity of it.
If he hadn't been in the way, the leaf would've reached the ground by now.
Another thing he did wrong.
With a small sigh he tried to paw the leaf off of his face, his eyes narrowing as it stubbornly stayed stuck to his face. "Ugh... stupid leaf." He muttered, wincing as he accidentally nicked his face with one claw. "Agh... Can I have a little help, please?" Instead of his usual happy demeanor, his tone had become sarcastic and even annoyed. "Or are you just gonna stand there?"
