Petty Boys Picking Fights [closed]

The brittle undergrowth rattled softly as the rest of the SkyClan patrol quietly slipped away with the intent of combing the sparse foliage for potential prey. The partially frozen snow crunched softly beneath Elmcloud's paws as he slunk along the ThunderClan border, his gaze occasionally wandering into the empty and snow-drenched forest that belonged to ThunderClan. The still fire-damaged forest was ugly enough to match that Clan, he supposed with a gleam of cruel amusement flickering in his gaze. Shaking his head with disinterest and purposely leaving a scent-marking that strayed a bit too close to ThunderClan's territory for comfort, the ruddy tom broke away from the border and padded a few tail-lengths into SkyClan's territory, content with simply meandering alongside the border while his Clanmates attempted a futile hunt.

Foxfire huffed as his paws felt like they were gonna freeze off. He hated snow. He absolutely couldn’t wait until new-leaf. The snow had been stuck on the ground for too long now, and ThunderClan was suffering from the prey shortage and coughs. He came out into the territory he hoping he could catch from extra prey for his mate and his newly born son, Galekit.

Foxfire flattened his ears, and his fur prickled. The scent of a SkyClan cat was way to close to ThunderClan territory for his comfort. He stealthy stalked around, and it was only moments later when he spotted the tom. Elmcloud.. he thought. He didn’t know the cat well, but that didn’t change his annoyance at the tom.
”What is this I detect? SkyClan scent on our side?” Foxfire sneered, baring his teeth.

The faintsoft sound of paws approaching from the opposite territory hardly caught Elmcloud's interest as he continued to carelessly glide alongside the border, his head tilted skyward. But the rapidly strengthening scent of ThunderClan definitely peaked his interest. At the sound of a vocal challenge, the handsome young tom merely tilted his head to throw a disinterested glare in the direction of the new cat. "What's this I detect? Some useless ThunderClan scum going around and speaking to me as if I actually care about whatever nonsense he's spouting?" Elmcloud echoed back, the sharp jeer laden with mocking scorn as he bared his own pristine teeth in an infuriating lopsided grin.

Coyly tilting his head and twisting his expression into one of faux innocence, the ruddy tom had the audacity to feign a shocked and guiltless expression, while a paw lifted to his chest in a manner of displaying hurt. "Perhaps wallowing about in that disgusting and ash riddled forest has made you go quite mad- those scent markers I laid are still perfectly within SkyClan's territory." The sweet, soft-spoken words were a stark contrast from the greatly infuriating smirk that graced Elmcloud's face. Rolling his shoulders carelessly, the ruddy tom waltzed up to Foxfire with in agonizingly-slow manner, his chin titled proudly as he did so. Slithering to a halt in front of Foxfire, Elmcloud thrust his face into the fiery-colored tom's face, his simper widening into a full-blown grin.

Normally, Foxfire would control his temper. But he was more on edge than usual with the war between RiverClan and ThundeClan, and with everyone being hungry and sick. With Elmcloud taunting him, he couldn’t hold back the anger building up in him.
Tail lashing, Foxfire lunged at the SkyClan warrior with a yowl, pushing him to the ground.

"Typical ThunderClan! Violently lashing out once they realize their pathetically small minds can't comprehend their situations!" Elmcloud spat, writhing furiously beneath Foxfire. Oh how he loathed ThunderClan and their foul stench! Lashing out with his powerful hindlegs and thrusting Foxfire away, the ruddy tom was on his paws with a quickness that was surprising considering how utterly lazy and slow-going he was. Shaking away the scraps of broken foliage that now clung to his fur, the SkyClanner darted forwards and smashed into Foxfire with his shoulder, definitely sending the red tom staggering. "Perhaps I can knock some sense into you!" Elmcloud spat, gaze alight with uncharacteristic rage.

Foxfire hissed as the Skyclanner practically body slammed him, almost making him fall back. The ginger tabby whirled around and leaped at Elmcloud, raking his claws down his opponent’s shoulder.

"Pest." Elmcloud seethed, flashing his teeth in response to Foxfire's second offensive attack, the pain of his newfound wounds only serving to infuriate him even more. Ignoring the sticky tendrils of blood that wept from the wounds in his shoulder, the ruddy tom neatly avoided any other lashing paws from Foxfire before rearing up on his powerful hindlegs. Face twisting in a sharp snarl, Elmcloud brought his forepaws down upon Foxfire's exposed head and face in a flurry of powerful strikes, spitting out foul curses beneath his breath as he did so.

Foxfire scrambled backward as he got several powerful blows to the head. He turned and ran, almost as if he had given up already. But the young warrior leapt onto a tree, and with all his might he sprung off, pretty much body slamming Elmcloud.

Feeling his legs give out from beneath him due to the sheer weight of Foxfire, Elmcloud's chin knocked painfully against the frost-brittle earth as the ThunderClan tom came crashing down from above. Feeling the breath explode from his chest in a forced huff that sent snow spraying into the air around the wrestling pair of toms. Taking a moment to compose himself, the SkyClanner quickly wriggled onto his back and instead tore wildly at the soft fur of Foxfire's exposed belly before sliding out from beneath his paws and scrabbling away.

Foxfire thought he had victory right there in front of him as Elmcloud was knocked to the ground. Though of course, Elmcloud was still more experienced than the Thunderclanner. Foxfire yowled and leapt of off the tree dweller as his claws raked his belly. He wanted to strike once more, but with all the pain running through him, he knew he couldn’t afford another hit.
He growled, but turned and retreated.

Elmcloud watched as Foxfire reluctantly backed away, his chin lifting in a challenging manner as the two held eye contact for a brief moment. Once the fiery tom turned and fled, he could feel his strength and resolve waver. The pain that radiated from his wounds returned with a fierce spark and the ruddy colored tom lingered at the border for only a heartbeat before turning and vanishing back into the safety of his own territory.
