The Softest Breeze in WindClan (OPEN)

Fernfeather bounded over to the nursery excitedly, her right clear eye gleaming happily. Her left eye was clouded and blinded from the sharp object lodged into it from whatever the monster on the Thunderpath threw out when she went to rescue Coyotekit, but she tried not to let it affect her attitude -- even if it did affect her hunting and fighting. Sometimes, though, she would slip into a bit of depression over the loss of one of her eyes and having her warrior skills be reduced to poorly timed action and reaction, but then she always reminded herself that she was no longer alone; she had decided to take in Coyotekit as her own despite being such a young warrior. She also had a little sister in Squirrelkit.

And now she had a little brother in Softkit, which was why she was so eagerly making her way to the nursery.

"Softkit!" Fernfeather meowed excitedly into the nursery den. "Softkit, come on out and meet the Clan! They're so excited to see you!"

The small ball of blond fluff named Softkit peeked warily outside the nursery, then ducked back inside when he accidentally made eye contact with another cat. "I-I don't know Fernfeather," Softkit mewed, kneading the ground anxiously, "I don't think I'm ready yet..."

"Aw, don't worry, Softkit, you'll be just fine," Fernfeather tried to assure her brother. "You're in WindClan after all, the best Clan in the forest! Everyone's super nice!" She gently nuzzled Softkit out of the nursery. "Even if you don't want to meet anyone new, you should still know the whereabouts of camp. Won't that be fun?"

Stormpaw walked calmly over to where Fernfeather was stood. He always felt sorry for her, having one blind eye must really be awful."Hello, Fernfeather. And what do we have here?" The apprentice looked at the little kit. Stormpaw acted tough, but he really had a soft spot for kits. He purred affectionately, showing he was no danger, as his tail flicked from side to side.

Feeling slightly braver from his sister's enthusiasm and from his curiosity of the world outside the nursery, Softkit took a step out of the gorse wall. He  closed his eyes and breathed in scents that were stronger than those in the nursery, and though he didn't recognize them, his blood began running with excitement. He opened his eyes... and came face to face with another cat. Scrambling to get away, Softkit took shelter back inside the nursery. "Yeah, I think I'll be fine in here!" Softkit squeaked.

Briarkit walked up to the young kit, not knowing his name.  "Hi!  I'm Briarkit!  What's your name? she said to the tom.

Poppykit stretched and yawned before padding past the younger kit out of the nursery. Her sleek, white and ginger pelt glowed in the sunlight. "It's fun out here! Don't be nervous," she reassured Softkit. "It's way more interesting than the boring nursery, at least. Hi, Briarkit!"

Fernfeather purred affectionately to the shy kit and tried to draw him back out with a sweep of her fluffy tail, stirring up the snowflakes blanketing the camp. "This is my little brother Softkit. You don't need to be shy, come on out and meet your new friends. You'll be training with Stormpaw, and Poppykit and Briarkit when they become apprentices."

Stormpaw realised he had scared the kit a little, so he plastered a smile on his own face. "Well, hello then, Softkit. You don't need to be scared. We are one Clan, like one big family. Here to help." He purred. Stormpaw grinned as more kits came over. Maybe, by the time they were apprenticed, he could be a warrior! He hadn't been keeping track of the time, anyways.

Softkit peeked back into sight, a wavering smile on his face. "Okay... okay." Softkit took a deep breath, and his voice came out a bit stronger. "Hello. I am Softkit, and I'm looking forward to... making friends with you all." Softkit grinned, proud of himself for getting the words out.
