Finders Keepers [CLOSED]

The little kit shivered as she hunkered down in the snow, trying her best to conceal her stark black fur into the white of her surroundings. It was freezing cold, colder than anything she'd ever felt so far in her short life. She didn't understand why this was happening to her. Her mother had vanished overnight, her warmth and protection suddenly nonexistent.

The kit was hungry, letting out a soft mewl. She was old enough to know that there were dangerous animals around, animals that would like to eat little black kits. So she didn't dare to cry any louder than that. She curled her thin tail tighter around her small body and fluffed up her fur as best she could against the cold, mewling again. She would try and find help somewhere but with her pelt so dark, a hungry fox or hawk could pick her out easily. It was a wonder she hadn't been found yet.

She just wanted her mama back. Or anyone else. It was so cold.

Hollowbranch was braving the snow to see if any prey was out there. Anything. Anything would do. The tom was barely outside of camp when he saw a black clump in the snow. His heart raced, and he picked up his pace, bounding through the snow. He found himself face to face with another kit. What is it with him and finding kits? Immediately, the tom bent over and roughly licked the kit to warm her up. She was freezing and pitiful. Moving in robotic, instinctual actions he curled around the kit. As soon as she was warmer he would bring her back.

The icy scent of the snow and the feeling of it clogged her senses, not that they were particularly sharp to begin with as she was only a moon old. A sharp wind blew across the moor, causing her to curl up even more and squeeze her yellow eyes shut against the chill.

Suddenly there was a crunching noise nearby; it was the sound of something approaching. She let out a squeak of terror but quickly realized it was another cat. He began to lick her to warm her up and she didn't hesitate to press herself up against his chest, feeling the body heat radiate off of him.

She was an interesting-looking cat, with large ears, a lean body, and a wedge-shaped head. She was the result of Two-legs and their kittypets. At least, that's what she remembered her mother telling her.

The kit mewed softly as the tom continued to lick her, feeling better already. "Wh-Who are y-y-you?" she asked, still shivering some.

The WindClan cat brought the kit closer, holding her and blocking her from the wind. "My name is Hollowbranch, young one. Do you know your name?" Talking was good. If she could talk, she was alive. He would ask about her mother, and if she had left he would bring her back to Ashstar. There was no way Ashstar could kick out this little kit.

She cuddled against him more, raising her head to gaze up at his face. This tom seemed nice. He had an odd scent, one she remembered her mother saying belonged to cats from these things called "clans". Being in a clan sounded fun to her, she never saw why her mother had such a problem with it. Then again, her mother had a problem with a lot of things, including her own daughter.

"Hi, Ho-Hollowbranch. That's a-a funny name. M-M-My mama s-said my n-name is Blackbird, 'cuz I'm a-a-all bl-black. She l-left, though. Are y-you in a C-Clan?"

Hollowbranch nodded, ignoring the comment about the funny name, and giving Raven one more lick. "Yes, I am part of WindClan. I am going to bring you back to camp so we can get you warm and some food now, alright?" The tom slowly stood and picked her up b the scruff, rushing to bring her back to camp. Ashstar just had to let her stay.
