Wild Training and Bittersweet Memories

"Hey, Wildpaw," Scorchfang called for his little brother into the apprentices' den. "It's time to wake up, it's your first day of training." Ever since he had been named Wildpaw's mentor, he was nothing but anxious and worried. He was unable to escape the horrific flashbacks of what happened to Brownpaw about a moon ago. But he had to move on, and what better way of getting over a failure than to try again? He padded over to the camp entrance and waited for Wildpaw.

Wildpaw who had been talking with some other apprentices had already heard about what happend to Brownpaw as his brother had trained her, even if she where a she-cat he could understand if he's brother where nervous or something like that. As he heard his brothers voice he quickly turned around and ran out of the den after his brother.
As he got to Scorchfang he smiled slightly "So what are we gonna do first?" he asked with a excited meow.

"Well, remember the trip we took to the Deep Marshes when you were a kit? I figured we could start off your training there. That's where Violetshine started me off." A pang of regret and sorrow took him by surprise. He had always taken his former mentor for granted because, like Wildpaw, he thought that she-cats weren't adequate to handle such immense responsibilities, so he had always ditched her whenever he could to train with Crowfur instead. He had always wanted to make amends with Violetshine, but he never got the chance to before the harsh chills of a leaf-bare night claimed her life. He would never be able to apologize to or make up with her, and that guilt -- among many others -- was going to haunt him for the rest of his life.

He realized he hadn't spoken in a while, and he forced a bit of a smile. "A-Anyway, let's get going, shall we? You have a lot to learn before you can become a warrior."

Wildpaw looked at questioning at his brother as he stopped speaking.
As his brother started speaking again he nodded and walked out the camp entrance with Scorchfang. Once they where out he looked around quickly trying to remember what way the deep marshes lied. After a second of thinking he pointed his tail towards what way he thought it lied "That's they way, right? If I can remember it right" he asked and looked up at his mentor.

Scorchfang purred his approval. "Good job! Come in, I'll race ya!" Grinning, he broke into a run, racing to their destination.

Wildpaw quickly raced after his brother, trying the best he could to keep up with the fast warrior.

The large tom skidded to a halt by the marshes, a few tail-lengths away from the thick mud that was buried underneath the snow. He turned back to Wildpaw as he approached. "Alright, would you like to start your hunting training first, or your battle training?"

Without even thinking for a second he quickly replied "Battle training!!". He swiped his front paw in the air and grinned slightly, he wanted to become the best warrior in the clan.

"You remind me so much of myself when I was an apprentice," Scorchfang commented. "Alright, I'll use the same method I used to teach... t-to teach Brownpaw." Stars, would it ever be easy to talk about his first apprentice? He pushed the thought away as he crouched into a hunting stance. "We're going to have a mock fight. You will make the first attack and I'll teach you moves and techniques along the way. But don't use your claws, you aren't fighting an enemy cat after all."

(OOC: Since no claws will be used, damage won't be taken, but stamina will still be deducted. :3)

OOC: Okay. Although this is my first time battle training so I wrote that battle thing how I think it should be, tell me if I did it wrong

IC: He nodded and go in a crounch, he then took a leap forward and swiped at Scorchfangs muzzle with sheated claws.

Wildpaw used Front Paw Strike with sheated claws, dealing 0 HP and costing 10 SP

(OOC: You've never battle trained before? Even though you have four other apprentices at your disposal? And yes, you did just fine!)

Scorchfang barely flinched at the clawless attack. "That was a very good first attack. I could really feel your power, even without claws unsheathed. And now I will teach you a move that will disable your opponent for a few moments, depending on how tight your grip is." He leaped at Wildpaw and gently pinned him down on his belly, being sure not to instinctively slide out his claws to keep him still.

Scorchfang used Leap-and-Hold on Wildpaw, dealing 0 damage and costing 10 stamina.

Wildpaw is Pinned for two turns.

Wildpaw growled quietly as his brother had him pinned down. He tryed to crawl out of his grip but where unable too.

(OOC: Well, don't worry, I'll help you out. And so sorry for the long wait, I had no idea it was my turn to post!)

"Now that I have you pinned..." Scorchfang purred deviously as he began licking Wildpaw's ears.
