Minnowkit, Nightkit, and Newtkit's Apprentice Ceremony

"Let all cats old enough to capture their own prey gather underneath Jaggedrock for a clan meeting!" the black tom called, tone curt.

Nightkit's ears flicked in the direction of her leader's voice. The apprentice-aged kit who had been lounging just outside the nursery thoroughly grooming her sleek, dark fur rose to her paws and made her way to the Jaggedrock with pride and purpose. Is today really the day? Nightkit took her place among the other cats gathering under the rock. Bright blue eyes shone with joy as she gazed up at her leader, anticipating what momentous occasion this announcement would turn out to be for her. The sometimes guarded young she-cat was unable to stop her little body from quivering slightly in excitement.

Lilacfall was fairly certain she knew what this meeting was for - a well-timed apprentice ceremony, perhaps for more than one cat. She sat near Nightkit, the first of her kits to join the meeting. "You seem awfully excited about something," Lilacfall teased her daughter. "I wonder what it might be."

Now, the most mature thing to do would be to pad out of the nursery calmly and quietly before the ceremony began.

Newtkit practically barrelled out of the nursery with his small tail streaming behind him as he did so. His apprentice ceremony was today, and that was a huge mark on the life of a Clan cat. He sat down beside his sister, Nightkit, shooting her a happy grin. He was finally going to be able to explore the  territory outside of camp, and hunt for his clan... oh, and fight for his Clan, too!

Minnowkit looked up from where she sat, grooming her fur. She walked over to the Jaggedrock. It's probaly my cermony.. Or I hope so atleast.... I think? she though and sat down by the crowed of cats that gathered around the Jaggedrock.

The black she-kit purred in response to her mother's jest, knowing full-well Lilacfall knew exactly why Nightkit was excited. She blinked her eyes in a slow, warm greeting at her brother Newtkit who settled on her other side, happy to have the company of both of them for such a wonderful day and just as excited that this was her brother's special day too. Nightkit noticed another kit arriving with the throng of ShadowClan cats heading their leader's call. She's old enough to be an apprentice too, Nightkit thought. Her eyes gazed back up at Magpiestar's once more, guessing he'd be starting any moment now.

"Minnowkit, Nightkit, and Newtkit, please step forward," the leader called out, looking towards the kits.

Minnowkit froze and looked around, had she just heard that? Her fur puffed up and she stod up and started to walk towards the Jaggerdrock. She stopped infront of her leader and looked up at her with her fur puffed up.

Nightkit rose to her paws and obediently stepped forward, the young she-cat's little heart thudding in her chest.

Newtkit followed the leader's order and padded forwards, puffing out his chest in attempts to make him seem bigger than he truly was.

"You all have reached he age of six moons, and are now ready to be apprenticed. From this day forth, until you receive your warrior names, you shall be known as Minnowpaw, Nightpaw, and Newtpaw. Your mentors shall be Copperfang, Lilacfall, and Blazeflight, respectively. Congratulations." With a nod he jumped down and left the clearing for his den.

Minnowpaw turned around and looked at the warriors, trying to find her mentor.

The newly named apprentice spun around and looked up at Lilacfall with wide, sparkling eyes. She was secretly relieved to have her own mother as her mentor. Nightpaw reached up to touch noses with her, as was the custom.

Newtpaw, with a huge, gleeful grin spreading across his muzzle, quickly scampered over to his new mentor, lifting his nose up to briefly touch it to with Blazeflight's. He was actually, legitimately, finally an apprentice now! He could do whatever he wanted, right?

Despite being publically disgraced, Gingerstripe still acted like a full member of his Clan- and that meant attending ceremonies. Of course, he wouldn't be a mentor, not with Magpiestar's punishment. He almost wished he could be an apprentice again. Those had been happy, carefree days... training with Swiftclaw, going on patrols with his brother and father and the she-cat he thought was his mother. Before he knew that his very existence broke the warrior code that he valued so much. Forcing himself not to snarl at the thought of his real mother, Honeydrop- she was dead and in the Dark Forest now, thankfully- the demoted orange tabby watched as his mate was named a mentor. Copperfang... he loved her and his kits so much, but with his new apprentice duties he'd been a little distant. Did they know he still loved them? Almost mechanically, instinctively, he called out the new apprentices' names, but his eyes searched for his mate. Where was she?
