Fernkit's Apprentice Ceremony

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather underneath the Tallrock for a Clan meeting!" Ashstar yowled, jumping atop the large gray stone.

Fernkit immediately abandoned the task of grooming her fur to make herself more presentable. Fur still sticking out every which way, making her look like a large gray bur, she rushed out into the clearing rather unprofessionally, too excited to care about presenting herself to her fellow Clanmates properly.

Ashstar nodded approvingly at the young kit. "Fernkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Fernpaw. Your mentor will be Quailfeather. I hope she will pass down all she knows on to you."

Quailfeather blinked as her name was called to be a mentor. It seemed like not too long ago Hollowbranch had been promoted, and now here she was with another apprentice. She had always loved apprentices, and this young she-cat seemed to be no exception. Fernpaw looked kind of like how she had, actually. The senior warrior touched her nose to the she-cat's and smiled, her frosty blue eyes looking into hetd. "I can't wait to train with you, Fernpaw," she purred.

Fernpaw trembled heavily with excitement, staring up into Quailfeather's blue eyes with her dark green ones. She was absolutely ecstatic to begin training with her.
