Save Me (open)

A few moons ago, Mintpaw could barely wait to be an apprentice. But now that she was here, now that she was Mintpaw, everything in the camp that she had called home suddenly felt alien to her.
She barely waited for her apprentice ceremony to be finished before she was racing from the camp; she didn't speak to her new mentor and she didn't stick around to be congratulated. Fernpaw could bask in all the glory she wanted, but even the smallest bit of praise made the gentler apprentice feel uncomfortable.
Her paws carried her quickly out of Skyclan's camp and into the forest, following a path she didn't know she knew. Her murky green eyes scanned the scenery around her as she walked; the leaves decorating the trees were bright shades of red, gold and green, and the sun shone through them, dappling the rocky ground. A bird chirped then took flight, bursting from a bush and making Mintpaw jump back in surprise. Her eyes lit up excitedly and she took off again, her pent-up energy propelling her through the forest and eventually into the top branches of a large tree.
She dug his claws into the trunk and hauled herself up clumsily, until the branches were too small to support even her weight.
She looked down at the ground below, her eyes round as she realized what she had done.
Oh... oh no.
She was stuck.

"Oh... oh... oh..." She whimpered, her claws locking uncontrollably around the narrow branch."Oh no, no no..." Her fur rose slowly and she began to shake, her eyes growing ever wider as she stared at the dizzying drop below her. Mintpaw's chin trembled and a single tear leaked down her face. She was going to die.

Silentpaw was returning from a long day of hunting. He was lucky enough to catch three pieces of prey in a row. He felt that Starclan was by his side. As the apprentice went to retrieve one of the prey from a bush, he heard some noise coming from ontop of a particularly tall tree. He quickly went to investigate. Maybe it was a bird or in a worse scenerio, a predator he would need to report. As he neared, he realized that it was none of those things. His soft green eyes widened when he spotted what looked to be a cat struggling on a thin branch. Once he backed away a bit, he realized that it was one of the newer apprentices, Mintpaw. The tom decided to call out to her. "Mintpaw! Are you okay? Are you stuck?"

Sprucepaw was by the fresh-kill pile when she heard the faintest noise coming from outside the camp. she was feeling curious, so she slipped outside the camp and started going towards the noise. To her suprise she saw Mintpaw stuck on a tree far above the ground. A silver pelted apprentice with gray stripes was trying to help her. "Mintpaw! Are you okay? How did you get up there?" Sprucepaw asked.

Mintpaw gulped as someone called her name. Who was it... one of the older apprentices? Quietpaw? No... Silentpaw! Her paws were quivering as she tried to steady herself. "S-Silentpaw!" She wailed, her voice shaking and her eyes still focused on the branch and not the dizzying drop below her. "Help! I-I'm stuck!" Her ears twitched as another voice joined Silentpaw's, a much higher one that she recognized- the kit she had met the other day, Sprucekit. She'd had her apprentice ceremony only a couple sunrises ago. "S-Sprucepaw? I-is that you?"

Mintpaw's ears flattened. Just because they were here didn't mean they'd be able to help her down. Sprucepaw was much too young to climb up this high, and Silentpaw was much heavier than Mintpaw was.
They wouldn't be able to save her.
Mintpaw's knees grew weak as she struggled to stay conscious. She could feel the panic rising in her now, threatening to spill over as her mind raced, going to impossible what-if scenarios. She could fall and die. She could get snatched by a hawk, or get spotted by a Twoleg, or maybe something even worse.

Driftpaw padded through the forest, trailing something or other, when her head jerked up as she heard distraught cries coming from.. somewhere. A cat was stuck up a tree? Growling under her breath, she raced after the noises, and found some apprentices and.. Mintpaw? Well, no one looked like they were helping, and she was probably one of the eldest out of them all. So, the overly-confident she-cat leapt up onto the trunk without a second thought. "I've got this covered, don't worry." Fastening her claws into the trunk, she began to climb up. Easy. But, her cocky attitude faltered as she began to slip down the bark, tail-lengths away from Mintpaw. Her tail lashed as she struggled to regain her grip on the wood, and for a second she thought about jumping down.. and making a huge fool of herself! She had more dignity than that. She trembled, but, she managed to stay on the tree, at least for the next few moments. "Get a warrior or something!" She hissed down, clumsily attempting to get back to her previous position. At this height, she probably wouldn't get any injuries from a fall, but she refused to give in to the temptation to leap to safety. I'll show them who's the boss!

"Yes it's me, Mintpaw" Sprucepaw meowed. Sprucepaw tried climbing up the tree but she slipped off the bark right away. But before she could try again, Driftpaw appeared and over-confidently leaped onto the tree, doing a pretty good job climbing up towards Mintpaw until she started to slip down the bark tail-lengths away from the she-cat. "Get a warrior or something!" Driftpaw hissed while she was trembling on the bark. And that was all it took for Sprucepaw to take off toward the direction of the camp.
