Apprentice Games [closed]

The late afternoon day was crisp and clear, without so much as a single cloud marring the lightly colored sky. Sprawled lazily beneath the heavy brambles that concealed the camp's entrance, Elmpaw twisted around so that he could rub his narrow shoulders against the barely warmed earth. Rippedsky had finally forced the wayward tom in attending to at least some of his apprentice-related duties, so now the apprentice was stuck waiting for others to join him on a hunting patrol of sorts.

Silentpaw walked up to Elmpaw with an excited expression. "Hey, are you going on a patrol of some sorts? I'm bored out of my mind so if you are I'll join." the tom said. He sat down and looked around hoping another cat joined them soon.

Amber eyes flicking open at the sound of another voice, Elmpaw twisted his head around so that he could get a glimpse at who was speaking to him. Relaxing against the soil that he was currently sprawled against, the young tom gave the silver tabby an nonchalant shrug. "Sure," Elmpaw began, "You can join- but I hope you don't mind having to wait for another cat to tag along."

Mallowpaw walked out of the elder's den as she just brought food for the elders. She heard a familiar voice and the voice of a newer apprentice. The she-cat followed their voices to the camp entrance. "Hello Elmpaw, and Silentpaw. Are you headed on a patrol? If you are, i'd be willing to come along!" she said with a friendly smile.

At the sound of another voice, Elmpaw's eyes were forced to flicker open once more so he could see who had joined them. Twisting his head and rolling onto his side, the ruddy brown apprentice let out a soft sigh as he faced whoever was speaking. "Mallowpaw." He greeted his kithood friend warmly as he slowly got to his paws. "Yeah, we're gonna go out on a hunting patrol- are you guys ready to leave now?" He questioned, taking a few steps towards the entrance as he spoke.

"Hey Mallowpaw! The more the merrier!" Silentpaw chirped. He turned to the other tom. "Alright Elmpaw! We're ready so let's get a move on!" he exclaimed.

Mallowpaw nodded. "I'm ready Elmpaw. Let's go!" she said with a smile.

Flicking his tail in agreement to Silentpaw and Mallowpaw's words, Elmpaw ducked down to squeeze out of the camp's narrow entrance. Outside of the shelter of the camp, it was a bit colder than he realized, but it still felt rather nice- even if the breeze was a bit brisk for his taste. Brushing out his short fur, Elmpaw let out a loud sneeze before turning to look at Silentpaw and Mallowpaw. "Where do you guys want to hunt?" He mewed, his large ears giving a slight twitch as he spoke.

"I want to try and hunt over there!" Silentpaw said as he pointed in the direction of a small group of trees and rocks. "Are we all going in the same direction and splitting up or are we gonna split up here?" he asked the other apprentices.

ooc) so since Rush hasn't posted in a while, I'm just gonna sort of continue this topic just for the requirement~


"We can split up here," Elmpaw mewed after a few moments of thought, "But meet back up once we've all caught a few pieces of prey." The ruddy brown tom let out a short mew to wish Silentpaw and Mallowpaw good luck before he plunged himself in the opposite direction that Silentpaw had pointed to. Almost instantaneously the young tom was able to catch a whiff of the familiar scent of squirrel and his paws quickly set on a path after the creature.

After a few heartbeats of careful tracking Elmpaw was able to catch sight of the dusky-colored creature and he found himself coiling into a powerful crouch, praying furiously that the wind wouldn't change directions and reveal his scent to the unsuspecting prey. And thankfully it didn't- Elmpaw was able to remain hidden for several long moments before springing towards the unsuspecting squirrel. With a grunt of success, his claws were able to snag in the squirrel's bristly fur and he was thankfully able to quickly kill the squealing creature.

IC: Mallowpaw wished her den-mates good luck before seperating and beginning to track down some prey. The she-cat soon scented an unusual prey. The blind apprentice had tracked down a rabbit. She crouched down and began to crawl toward it. After a few moments of stillness, she pounced. The she-cat had successfully caught the creature. She hid it somewhere safe and continued on the hunt for some prey.
