A Kit's Impatience

Scorchkit grunted and rolled over onto his side, staring out at the camp entrance from the nursery. He was absolutely sick of hanging around camp all day, and considering he didn't have any interest in getting to know his older siblings better he was unbearably bored. He needed to do something or else he would go insane!

A sudden idea sparked in Scorchkit's mind, and he rose quickly to his paws. He had no mother and his father and siblings were busy doing warrior or apprentice duties. Perhaps there was a hunting patrol out there right now. He was going to join them.

Scorchkit slipped out of the nursery and raced to the entrance, hoping no one would catch him before he made his great getaway.

Minnowkit yawned and opened her eyes. She saw something running out of the nursery and stod up, walking over to the nursery entrance. She saw the Scorchkit running out from camp. Her only friend in the clan at the moment was busy being a apprintice so she decided to follow the kit. She quickly catched up to the kit and said "Hi! Im Minnowkit.. Um can I come with you? Please.." she said as she runned by his side.

Scorchkit grunted. He had honestly wanted to go out all by himself. But if he did end up getting caught, at least that would mean Minnowkit would be in just as much trouble, and he would only take half the Clan's wrath. He nodded. "Sure, Minnowkit, you can tag along. But we gotta be quick and quiet, otherwise we'll never be able to get out of here."

With the young she-cat by his side, Scorchkit slipped through the bramble walls of the ShadowClan entrance. He looked around with wide, excited eyes, then picked a direction to go -- the direction that led to the Deep Marshes. "Let's go that way!" He led the way through the pine forest.

"Yay! Okay I'll be quiet now" she said quietly.
She followed him closely behind. She was so exided for being out of camp, she had only seen a little trough the bramble walls. She smiled for herself and looked around a little, it was so cool. She could not wait to see more of the territory.
She heightened her speed a little so she was by his side again.

Scorchkit continued through the pine forest towards the marshes, and he noticed that the ground as beginning to grow much softer and muddier. He growled in annoyance as his paws became climpednin mud, but he refused to turn back, instead trudging through the thick wet earth.

Minnowkit struggled to keep up with Scorchkit when the ground got softer, her paws got sucked in by the ground quickly so she had to use her strenght on that insted of running faster. "Ugh why do I have to be so small" she mumbled for her self. She saw a fallen tree that she quickly jumped up on so she could start running faster again, it was a little slippery but noting that she had to worry about.

Scorchkit didn't even notice Minnowkit falling behind due to the mud slowing her down; he forgot about her entirely when he spotted a green creature about as big as he was. It was prey! And he was going to catch it!

Scorchkit was having trouble stalking the frog through the thick boggy mud. He silenced his grunting and moved as slow as possible, trying not to alert the little creature. He hauled himself up on a large, slippery branch where the frog rested at the end and stalked up to it.

Once he deemed close enough, he pounced and landed squarely on the frog's back. It let out a high-pitched squeal that was abruptly cut off when Scorchkit bit as hard as he could into its soft spine, cracking the bone between his teeth.

Scorchkit stood up straight, pride swelling up within him, and he looked around for Minnowkit. "Minnowkit! Minnowkit, look, look what I caught!"

Minnowkit catched up to him and saw the prey he had cought. "Wow! Thats awsome!" she said. She looked around a little and heard a sound "Huh?.. Did you hear that?" she wispered to Scorchkit.

She jumped up on a little rock and looked around. Then she heard it again, she sniffed the air a little and jumped down. "Patrol.." she wispered and looked at him.

Scorchkit's eyes widened. If either of them were caught, they both would get into a lot of trouble. He tried to drag his frog with him, but its limp, lifeless body was much heavier now and he couldn't move it over the log's edge. He hissed angrily and decided to leave it, leaping down from the log and hiding in the thick muck. "Minnowkit! Down here, quick!"

She jumped down to him and hid in the muck with him. She pricked her ears and lisent for sounds. She keept quiet knowing that if they got caught the would be in big trouble. She swallowed nervously and looked around.

Willowheart padded through the marshland, her ears twitching with amusement when the familiar squeals of a kit's voice reached her ears. She was right- they had snuck out, and were obviously trying not to get caught.
"Lovely day, isn't it?" She mewed, a little to loudly, to her companions. She could tell that they, like she, knew the kits were nearby. Although the little ones were trying their hardest to keep quiet, any trained warrior would be able to hear the sound of their footsteps.

Minnowkit heard the patrol coming closer and held perfectly still making as little sound as possible. She had a feeling that they where gonna get caught. But she tryd to keep hidden anyways.

Scorchkit knew this trick all too well -- many cats who would play hide and seek with him would always speak loudly whenever they knew where he was hiding. However, instead of feeling excited and playful, he instead felt angry. He turned to Minnowkit, hissing quietly to her. "We have to get out of here, otherwise we're gonna get caught!..."

She looked at him and then looked around quickly "O-okay.." she answerd nervously and looked around again "Where should we go?" she heard the patrol getting closer and closer. "Mabye we should go back to camp.." she said quietly.
