Just Fishing in the River?

The little warrior left her den, bored of not doing anything at all. Her apprentices seemed to be busy these days to not go on training lessons and she wanted to do something else than just laying down on her nest. That's why she woke up early in the morning and trotted to the apprentice den, excited as a little kitten. "Good morning!" She mewed loudly, trying to wake up the young apprentices. "Come on! Wake up! It's time for a hunting patrol!" After saying that, Tinytip left the entrance of the den and waited outside of it, waiting for apprentices to join her. However, she didn't mind that a warrior would like to come too. After all, more cats were always funnier than just a few.

The silvery she-cat opened her eyes, annoyed by the loud voice of that little warrior. How dare she to wake her up from her peaceful sleep? She thought, growling angrily. But... a patrol didn't sound too bad in these days. Camp's life was boring especially when your mentor died before he was able to train you. Yawning, her odd eyes first waited for other apprentices to go outside before she would. Silverpaw didn't want to be the only one accompanying such a small and weak warrior like Tinytip.

It was his first night as a warrior in the den. That was a strange night, sleeping among the warriors that now were his partners. He was happy to finally have his warrior name and a new rank but still... the memory of his father advise still haunted him. That’s why he opened his eyes when he noticed that his kithood crush left the den and he decided to follow her, wondering what she would do.
With serious eyes, the Riverclan tom looked how she went to the apprentice den, said out loud some words and then padded closer to the entrance. Batfang was still hurt by the distance she created between the two of them but he couldn’t hate her. He was just angry and he needed to talk about what was happening. ”Morning, Tinytip. It seems that you’re going on a patrol. Mind if I join you?” He asked as he approached her to the entrance.

The little warrior was waiting peacefully for an apprentice to come until her eyes gazed a familiar silhouette approaching her. Her big amber eyes opened in surprise and delight when the tall warrior asked her to join. Standing up with a happy bounce, Tinytip smiled to him. "Of course you can come! I'm so happy to spend more time with you now you're a warrior." The she-cat purred, nudging him gently with her nose in his chest before stepping back.

The silvery she-cat finally decided to stand up when she noticed that another warrior was approaching Tinytip. She left the den with an annoyed look because she was still angry about not being able to sleep the time she wanted and then walked toward the two warriors. "Okay, let's finish this patrol quick." She growled walking by their side before starting to walk outside the camp, flicking her left ear in annoyance.

"Oh! Okay, let's go Batfang! We're going to the river. Silverpaw, please follow me and don't go too far without us!" Tinytip trotted to reach the young apprentice and then led her to the river of the clan, hoping that they would be able to hunt some fish or another kind of prey.

Batfang paralyzed when the little she-cat touched and he looked at her with a poker face that didn’t show his surprise. When he was about to say something, that grumpy apprentice appeared and distracted Tinytip from him. When she started to walk behind her, Batfang looked thoughtfully at his chest, where Tinytip touched him. For a second, he touched it with his paw remembering how much he liked her warmth but now... he couldn’t stop remembering the name of another she-cat along with the Riverclan apprentice. Shaking those thoughts, the tom ran toward the two she-cats and followed them to the river.

When she finally saw the river, Tinytip raced toward the rushing water and let her paws splash on it. Smiling, she looked back at her friend and the young apprentice. "I think this is a good place to hunt. Go ahead and catch something, Silverpaw." She said, searching for the silvery fishes that usually swam there. With the close arrival of the Leafbare, it was necessary to hunt a lot for the toughest seasons. Her eyes met the fish she was looking for and with a swift move, her jaws dug the teeth in the soft meat of the animal who tried to escape with all its strength. She picked it up above the surface and the fish died because of the blood loss and because it couldn't breathe anymore.

Silverpaw watched how that little warrior went to the river with an annoying excitement. How could it be funny to hunt fishes all the time?"Tsk... this is stupid..." She couldn't understand such a naive and foolish warrior but still, she had to do what she told her. Reaching the water, the Riverclan apprentice waited with a flicking tail for another fish and soon dug her claws on one of them, don't even bothering on biting it until it was dead. Silverpaw threw the fish away to the shore and started to look the river again frowning.

Batfang followed Tinytip to the river and listened to her words seriously. He hoped that this patrol would be peaceful like always but Silverpaw’s words make him angry. Was she making fun of Tinytip? Feeling the anger flooding his senses, the Newly Appointed Warrior looked at the silvery apprentice with disapproval eyes and walked toward her after she threw that fish. ”Don’t be disrespectful to Tinytip, Silverpaw. This is just a warning but I will recommend you to watch your words if you don’t want troubles.” He growled walking a few steps further and killing a fish quickly grabbing it by the back with open strong jaws.

The apprentice's fur stood up with anger and embarrassment after what the warrior told her. Stepping toward him with angry and fiery eyes, she hissed at him. "You can't tell me what to say or not. I was only speaking my mind and I was not trying to be mean toward Tinytip, like you said. I was only pointing out that fishing is way too easy even for little kittens so is stupid and boring to hunt them." She snapped, digging her claws on the unsheathed floor with the anger feeling her chest.

The small black and white she-cat soon caught another fish with her fangs after tossing the fresh-kill she caught first. However, she lost her focus when she noticed that the tabby apprentice was arguing with the other warrior. Throwing the fish to the shore, the she-cat stayed in her place and, with a loud voice, she tried to see what was happening. "Hey, guys! What's going on?! Is there something wrong?!" She asked looked at Batfang with concerned amber eyes.

The black bengal tom frowned after Silverpaw’s words, letting out a little growl from his closed mouth. Turning his back to her, Batfang’s long tail slapped softly her muzzle only wanting to make her even angrier. With a defiant smirk and narrowed eyes, the warrior turned his head to her, just to see her from the corner of his left eye. ”If it’s so boring, why don’t you try something harder, huh? Or are you just a scared she-cat that just talks too much?” He meowed so she would accept his challenge. He stepped closer to the shore and glanced back at the silvery she-cat.

Noticing that the two cats were leaving the river, Tinytip left her hunting spot and approached Batfang with her eyes flattened to her skull, a little unsure about what was happening. "Is everything okay? I mean... I thought I see you arguing about something..." She looked at Batfang's green eyes first before looking at the angry silver she-cat.

Silverpaw coughed when she felt that furred tail on her mouth and growled in anger when he walked away from her. While she heard his words, the she-cat's fur got hotter because of how ashamed he wanted to make her feel. The apprentice trotted behind him and stood up in front of him, looking at him defiant and with a determined expression on her face. "Scared? Ha! Don't make me laugh.I can beat you up at hunting land prey whenever I want and I will prove it to you, scarred-face." She hissed, stepping away from him with clenched teeth. Following the scent of a water rodent, Silverpaw crouched in front of a bunch of reeds where she could scent the presence of that small animal moving nervously. With a strong leap, the she-cat jumped entering the reeds with unsheathed claws ready to kill. However, the mouse ran from the reeds a few moments ago and the only thing she got was mud on her face. Silverpaw jumped back, shaking the mud off her fur and slashing the reeds frustrated and angry.

The tom looked from the corner of his eyes at the little she-cat approaching after the apprentice went to hunt. ”Everything is just fine, Tinytip. I’m only teaching this apprentice something about respecting the warriors.” He said. With narrowed eyes, the tom glanced at the silvery fur of the she-cat disappearing in the reeds. He approached her just to see her face covered in mud. With an arrogant smile, the warrior chuckled waving his tail. ”Ha, hunting in the land isn’t that easy, right honey? Now watch how a warrior do it.” After saying that, the charcoal found the scent of another rodent hiding deeper in some reeds close to the river. Crouching and walking slowly, the leaped toward the little mouse with his fangs prepared to taste the fresh meat. The water rodent wasn’t able to escape from the quiet tom and soon died because of the wounds. Smiling proudly, the warrior left the reed to return to the two she-cats with his winning prize. ”If you can’t even catch a mouse don’t dare to be disrespectful toward our fishing culture and our warriors, because it seems that fish is he only prey you can get.”
