Moseying his way through the territory with his daughters at his side, the old tom let out a sigh and watched as his breath disappeared into the crisp midday air. Grey clouds covered the sky above, only letting slivers of sunlight out ever once in a while. The chilly Leaffall season had begun not too long ago and while it was nice to see a change in the land, he couldn't say that he really appreciated the colder weather. Leaffall always made his bones ache, especially since that accident that made him feel even more old and frail. 'Great StarClan when did I become so pathetic?' he thought to himself as the trio came up upon the Lone Stump.

Taking a moment to prepare himself, Cedarfur bunched up his hind legs and jumped up to the dead tree, attempting to land as gracefully as possible, though his efforts were in vain. Letting out a huff and giving his aching back a stretch, the old tom sat down near the center of it and wrapped his tail around his paws. Turning to Spiderfur and Nightheart, the elder let out a purr of contentment. The three of them hadn't had any family time for what seemed like forever and while he'd previously doubted their little family meeting, he found himself glad that he'd invited the two of them to join him. Of course he didn't plan on joining StarClan anytime soon, but he still knew that he didn't have too much time left in this life, so while laying in his nest a night or so ago, the elder decided that while he'd caused some tension within the clan in the past, he wanted to take advantage of his time in the clan and cherish every waking moment with his kin.

"I don't think I've seen a day this peaceful in moons," the tom mewed softly, turning his head so that he looked upon the vast, somewhat empty territory. A brisk breeze whizzed over the cats and even ruffled the tom's short fur, sending a shiver down his spine. No matter what was going on or had been going on in and around WindClan, none of it mattered right now and Cedarfur pushed all of the conflicting thoughts away. For now, he just wanted to forget about it all and spend a simple, restful, day with his lovely daughters.

Every time she looked at her reflection, for a moment all she could see was her mother. Those horrible injuries she'd suffered trying to escape from the dogs that had taken over their camp when Spiderfur was but a kit. Leafsnap didn't have those for very long, as they were permanently erased when she was taken by StarClan nary a moon or so later. She could only hope that she wouldn't suffer the same fate.

Spiderfur's grievous wound still hadn't healed completely, nor had her heart stopped racing. It seemed that the only sleep she got in the past few sunrises was after she'd mentally exhausted herself. The hawk had survived the encounter with her and her Clanmates, and hopefully it would stay far, far away from now on, but the fear of its return still loomed on the senior warrior's mind. For now she was still unsure about stretching her front left leg out too far, lest the scar tissue running up her chest and neck split open. This tentativeness gave the little she-cat a sort of limp as she followed behind her elderly father.

Her wide eyes jerked away from the empty skies above when Cedarfur spoke. "I-I suppose s-so, yes." She couldn't look at the stump directly. Too much had happened here.

Nightheart followed her father and half-sister towards the Lone Stump in silence, a somewhat serious expression replacing the cheerful smile that used to dominate her features several moons ago, her eyes holding undeniable wisdom and life, but their spark of mischievousness and joy had been lost a long time ago. Only a shadow of a smile worked to not make the dark warrior look like if she was heading towards a burial or a battle. Life hadn’t been kind to the she-cat, more than once throwing her in situations that forced her to experience first-hand whatever dark sides it held. Betrayal, loss, grief, anger…those and many more had successfully dragged her spirits down to the point of paranoia and distrust towards even those she shared the warrior’s den with.

It was clear that she needed more support than the one she was willing to admit, that deep inside she craved the love and happiness that only a mate and kits could provide. But after what happened with Lionfur all those moons ago she had opted gather the shattered pieces that were left of her heart and hide them beyond the reach of the world, not willing to get betrayed a third time by those she once had loved. While said choice had given her a huge boost of her efficiency as a warrior loyal to the code and her clan and turned her into a strict mentor that would stop at nothing to give WindClan warriors as loyal as herself, it had also caused her to turn serious and cold, barely reacting to the world that surrounded her in most occasions.

This, however, was one of the few exceptions.

There was nothing that could bring Nightheart closer to her old self than spending time with the family she had left and was certain that would never betray her, so it wasn’t exactly a surprise when she had taken the chance to go out with them as soon as it was presented to her instead of following her usual routine. It almost felt like if the good old times had come back as the trio walked through the moors, the chilly winds of Leaffall barely doing anything to her regardless of her short pelt.

She no longer walked with tense muscles nor her ears moved constantly as if trying to spot the intruder or traitor that in her paranoid mind always stalked her beyond her range of vision. She felt safe, she felt calm “It surely is…” She looked at Spiderfur and his father, unsure if she should join Cedarfur on top of the Lone Stump or stay with Spiderfur on the ground. She had caught word about the incident with the hawk and could understand her sister’s hesitation to some extent.

In sitting next to his two favorite kits, the tom could sense some sort of awkwardness or hesitation in the air, but he couldn't figure out what the reason for it was. Maybe with all that had been going on, sitting around talking wasn't really on their minds? Or maybe they were keeping things from him?

"Is anything troubling you two?" the tall tom mewed, looking from Nightheart and then to Spiderfur, his head titled curiously. Cedarfur was always there for them and hoped they knew that in case anything was on their minds.

OOC: sorry for the late and short post ;;
