Batpaw's Warrior Ceremony

Fishstar leaped atop the willow branch to begin a ceremony, pleased with the number of new warriors lately. "Let all cats old enough to capture their own prey join here beneath the willow branch for a clan meeting!"

The black bengal tom left the apprentice's den, hearing to Fishstar's call. Maybe it was just another boring apprentice ceremony, so he just sat pretty far away from the willow branch, looking annoyed.

"Batpaw," the leader called out, gaze following the soot-coloured apprentice as he emerged, "please step forward."

The apprentice barely noticed the gaze of the leader until she called his name. Standing up, the scarred apprentice walked to the willow branch, not believeing that this was his warrior ceremony. After all... he should had been an apprentice a long time ago so why would it be now the day?

"I, Ivyfall, deputy of Riverclan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. He has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend him to you as a warrior in his turn. Batpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?" From her place beside the willow branch, the deputy asked the young apprentice the most important question that would define his life. It was daunting for him, but she trusted that he would make the right choice and embrace the fact that he was ready. She wouldn't have recommended him otherwise.

Finally he started to believe that this was finally the day he would be a warrior. Looking at the she-cat with serious and defiant eyes, the scarred tom answered her with a strong voice. ”I do. “

"Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. From this day forth, you shall be known as Batfang. RiverClan honours your strength and honesty. Tonight, you will have to hold a silent vigil till dawn once the sun sets. Celebrate whilst the light is still up with your clanmates, Batfang. May StarClan guide all our paths." With these parting words, Ivyfall leapt down from her perch to give the young warrior a fond nudge before stepping back to let others cheer him.
