Smokey Bones [Closed]

Smokestripe sat near the entrance of the camp, his tail wrapped around his paws as he waited for Bonepaw. His eyes were closed as he basked in the moonlight that illuminated the ShadowClan camp, having always enjoyed the cool whispers of the night...Of course, it was quickly growing colder as the seasons changed and he knew that he would soon miss how comfortable the temperature was when it would be time for Leafbare. But there was little point to dwell on how much he was going to miss the current weather when there was hunting to be done.

The large stark white apprentice walked out of the apprentice's den. He knew that he was joining Smokestripe for a hunting patrol today. He hoped that his fur wouldn't ruin the hunting, if it did, then he could just roll in some mud to hide himself. "I'm ready to go when you are." The apprentice politely informed the warrior.

Smokestripe pulled himself to his paws as he dipped his head in greeting to the apprentice. He felt a pain of sympathy for the tom as he turned to lead him from the territory. It couldn't be easy being a pure white cat in ShadowCan - a Clan known for their dark colors that helped them sneak around. But he had faith that the apprentice could make it work as they entered the marshy landscape. It didn't take long to find a good hunting spot and Smokestripe quietly swept his tail for Bonepaw to split up as he tasted the air for prey. He soon caught wind of a lizard scurrying across the mud, dropping into a crouch as he stalked forward and waited til it made the mistake of pausing. Then, he leaped. There was no noise from the lizard as he skillfully landed on it and killed it with a quick blow. Picking it up, he glanced around for a safe place to store it before he returning to the hunt.

Bonepaw nodded when Smokestripe order them to split up for the most efficient hunting. The white apprentice walked away from the warrior, and followed the scent of a toad. When he found it he crouched and then pounced on the toad hoping that he would catch it. Once he secured it in his paws he quickly killed it and buried it. He needed to find another.

Smokestripe dropped into a crouch when he noticed a rat searching the ground for food of its own - blissfully unaware of the warrior as he carefully stalked forward on silent paws. His eyes glimmered as he came to the perfect leaping distance with still no sign of the rat noticing him before he bunched up his muscles in preparation to jump. It was another skillful, silent kill as Smokestripe easily made the leap and picked up the rat to hide it with the lizard. He could only hope that Bonepaw was having as good as luck as him.

Bonepaw kept going, this time following the scent of a frog. He was hopeful. He wanted to catch this one as well. The white apprentice crept forward following the scent until spotting the frog. This catch was going to be messy because of the mud, but that didn't matter. The white apprentice leaped forward for the frog. He missed, well.. at least he was covered in mud so it would be easier on him later.

Smokestripe glanced at the sky, trying to way how many pieces of prey he wanted to go for still before he and Bonepaw called it quit. He hesitated as he tasted the air, deciding that perhaps he would see how he fared on this catch. A flash of white flickered in the corner of his eyes, too small to be Bonepaw but his attention was still pulled only to find a rabbit sitting among the muck of the territory. He frowned as he turned, crouching as he pulled himself forward toward it. It wasn't something he would normally go for - part of him would be pleasantly surprised if he even caught it - but he wasn't going to turn it down when it was much larger then their normal score of prey. He made a leap at it, the rabbit's large ears perking up as it took notice of him. It made a dart for it, Smokestripe landing just a tail-length behind but didn't dare chase after it - he knew the rabbit had him beat in terms of speed. He sighed softly as he gave a shake of his head, turning and deciding to try to catch one more piece of prey before calling it good.

The now brown and white apprentice trudged through the territory. Bonepaw didn't mind the mud sticking to him or his fur, and didn't weigh down the bulky apprentice one bit. He looked around, his dark amber eyes trying see if anything was near by while his mouth hung open checking for scents. The fully grown apprentice caught scent of a mouse near by, and couched low. Hopefully he would catch this one.

He missed, and seemed to have gone too far an angered a Raccoon.

Smokestripe tasted the air in search of prey but hesitated as a different scent caught his attention. It wasn't something he had scent before and curiosity got the better of him as he turned and started to stalk toward it. He froze when another scent caught his attention - Bonepaw's and his eyes widen as he spotted the apprentice facing off against what he could only guess was a raccoon based on the stories he had heard. Without a moment of hestation, he lauched himself across the clearing and into the raccoon, rolling head over tail into the mud with it as he worked to keep it attention off of the apprentice with heavy slashes.

Smokestripe uses Run-and-Tackle on Rocky Wild Raccoon, dealing 14 damage (11 reg, +3 for opponent not being focused on them) and costing 10 stamina.
