The Blazing Raven (training topic)

Blazingpaw hardly could register what was happening as the fuming she-cat burst out of her hiding spot and viciously attacked him before pinning him to the ground. His head throbbed as bolts of pain ran down his spine. His back fur bristled in fear as she spat out a cold threat, and the tip of his tail twitched. However, he obeyed the mother's words, and kept still, his eyes wide and his muscles tensed. He stared at Ravenpaw as he spoke.

"No, there will be no claws in battle training. Ravenpaw, go do your mother a favour and get Rabbitfoot for your wounds. And Blazingwings." She added as if she didn't even care if the tom died or not, but said it anyways because she couldn't be bothered with the effort of cleaning off the evidence. Specklefang pressed a large paw into Blazingwings throat, giving him the feeling and threat of suffocation her claws also an overbearing presence.

"I don't care for you, Blazingwing. Which is why it will be of no problem to... fix the mess you made so to speak. Once I step off, you will slowly get to your paws and sheathe your claws. And I'll teach you a little something about battle training." She spat, her lip curdling as she took a step off and then away before crouching down and sheathing her claws, circling.

Ravenpaw bowed his head and let his tail trail in the dust to get Rabbitfoot for their wounds.

Blazingwing raised to his paws and slowly sheathed his claws, trembling. His hackles raised as the towering she-cat circled him like he was fresh-kill, and suddenly he realised how it felt to be prey. Nevertheless, he bared his teeth in a slight snarl and narrowed his eyes at Specklefang in an attempt to show he wouldn't hold back, though he felt as if every breath was a cliffhanger. He watched intently as she circled him, his muscles tensing and his eyes turning to ice. No.. He wouldn't hold anything back. If it was perfectly fine for him to die, he wouldn't care either.

She had fought fox after fox, after fox. She helped bring cats home from a land over yonder with one upon her back, she had saved her clan-mates from a fire, she wasn't going to let some weakling tear into her son. Her nostrils flared as she watched, entirely unfazed from the threat display. "What possessed you to start ripping into my son like fresh-kill hmm? Did you 'just do it'? That you were afraid for your life? Pathetic, truly it is pathetic! Needing your claws for a battle that didn't need fighting." Growled Specklefang, stalking him without much motion apart from her mouth and legs, seeming like she was floating along the ground.

Her tail was still with a slight swoop in it, her ears flicked against her head as she watched him like a bird of prey watching a mouse. Then she sprung, reeling back her head and neck as she slammed it into the weakest part of Blazingwing, his head. She had bashed it around pretty bad after all, she was surprised the toms jaw wasn't broken or dislocated. Crouching down the she-cat stuck her head and neck under the toms chest and heaved him up and over, turning on her paw she turned and pulled back her leg and slammed her back leg into his jaw with the intent of serious damage.

Ravenpaw padded into the medicine cats den. "Rabbitfoot? I need your help please." He meowed into the den.

Blazingwing yelped as Specklefang slammed her hind leg ferociously into his jaw, causing excruciating pain to bolt through his muzzle and making a faint crack sound as it snapped. The teeth on his bottom jaw stabbed into the flesh of his upper jaw, causing trickles of blood to well out of his mouth. It now hung limp, beaten and broken after the kick. Stunned in both pain and fear, he stared at the cat - no, monster, helpless and unable to attack.

Specklefang merely looked down at Blazingwing, her eyes narrowed as she looked down at him. "Bow." She ordered curtly, her tail high with power and dominance.

Blazingwing, trembling, obeyed and bowed his head, causing small crimson droplets of blood to dot the soil underneath his paws. His jaw loosely swung as he moved his head, and he could hardly keep himself from falling over from terror, shock and the pain he was experiencing.

Leafstorm tilted his head as Specklefang left camp. He was glad Blazingwing was given an apprentice- the warrior was smart, and Leafstorm was proud to call him his friend.
He flicked his ears, slowly getting to his feet. He might as well follow her.

His eyes narrowed as he heard scuffles ahead. Breaking into a run he tore into the clearing, skidding to a stop and nearly crashing into the cats.
"Specklefang... wha?" His green eyes widened in shock and he rushed over to Blazingwing anxiously.
"Specklefang, no!" He cried, stepping between the two defensively. Blazingwing had serious damage to his face, and the tom felt a wave of rage wash over him. His eyes flashed- he'd talk with Specklefang after this.
The scarred tom turned once, looking over Blazingwing. His eyes softened and he nudged him carefully, trying to herd the terrified tom behind him.
"What happened?" He demanded angrily, his tail lashing as he took in the scene before him. They'd need to get a medicine cat as soon as possible...

"This beast used claws on my son. And as a caring and doting mother, I wont atone for that." She spat, not moving anything apart from her mouth as she spoke. Her tone was flat, lifeless and uncaring as she looked down at the tom with cool eyes. Her anger so great that it just.. disappeared.

Ravenpaw shrugged and ran back out of camp, passed the training clearing he and Blazingwing were at. "Im gonna go and get Sageleaf from Windclan! Be right back" He yelled as he ran by. In no time he was running across the border not stopping until he was halfway to their camp to catch his breath. Once he had caught him breath he continued on and found a patrolling warrior, explained his situation and the warrior led him to the medicine cat den. "Sageleaf! I need your help! My mother broke my mentors jaw because we were using claws during battle training and made me go and get Rabbitfoot but she wasn't there so I came here. She wants you to heal both i and my mentor." He meowed quickly.

Blizzardstar was around the area at the time, looking for a good spot to train any future apprentices around the slowly healing forest. The only reason Ravenpaw didn’t see her when she passed by only a couple tail-lengths away from her was because she crouched on the nearby undergrowth, checking if it was long enough to hide her during hunting training. The smell of blood reached her nostrils too late for her to follow her and ask what happened, she was already too far away…and if she was running it meant that whatever made her…whatever wounds she now had, was still back there.

Without losing a single second she followed the trail left by the apprentice, the scent of blood getting stronger with each step. Her long fur was standing on end, her claws unsheathed, she was ready for a battle…until she recognized the voices and known scents mixed with those of blood. She didn’t drop her guard, but the lack of scent of a predator or another cat…in all honesty it made her way even more wary than in they had been there, memories of what happened with Rockthorn some moons ago flashing across her eyes Please, oh StarClan, please, don’t let something like that happen again, I don’t know if I would be able to handle it…

As soon as she finally saw the scene her jaw dropped almost like Blazingwng’s thanks to the surprise before her usually gentle gaze turned into an enraged glare and her whole fur stood on end. However, anyone that knew her well enough would know just by looking at her eyes that under that enraged façade she was worried and scared out of her mind “What in StarClan’s name happened here?!”.

"Training.. claws," Blazingwing choked, his eyes darting around the area. His broken jaw made it hard to speak, and his shock, terror and the blood, which was now staining his neck fur red, wasn't helping. He felt as if he would fall to the floor any second.

Sageleaf was shocked as an apprentice from Thunderclan burst into her den. She was well aware they were short on medicine cats right now, but she had thought that Rabbitfoot was acting as their stand in. Regardless, when the young cat spoke, a growl built up her chest. They had been stupid enough to use claws in training? Despite her longing to train as a warrior, the grey and white she-cat had never had the desire to use her claws on a clanmate. Without saying a word at first, she set to work taking care of Ravenpaw. He had just ran quite the distance and the scratches that covered his coat were still fresh. Aggravation rose in her chest, but it was her duty and she grit her teeth while doing so. Even if it were another clan's cat, she was bound to the duty of helping any cat in need. She spat a poultice of chewed up herbs into the tom's wounds. It was quickly followed up by cobwebs for the worst of it. Taking care of him was rather quick work.

Sageleaf used heal on Ravenpaw.

Once she finished that up, it was time to back for the journey to Thunderclan. Sageleaf sorted through the piles of herbs to find exactly what she needed. A broken jaw was a new one, but she had no doubt that she would be able to at least ease the pain, if not salvage the other cat's jaw. When it was all together, she threw it in a larger leaf and gingerly folded the whole thing into a bundle. The medicine cat looked up at Ravenpaw and meowed, "Take this. I have to carry a few other things." The words were short. Hiding her frustration was not the easiest thing and she did not want it to become the forefront of her interaction with this poor apprentice who most likely had no say in what had happened. As soon as she was ready, Sageleaf lead the way out of camp and over the moors. She had made sure to give a quick explanation to one of her clanmates so the clan would not miss her much. Her paws danced lightly over the earth as she propelled herself across the territory.

As they reached Thunderclan territory, she let Ravenpaw take the lead. They were there pretty quickly despite the distance. Her eyes widened at the picture of Blazingwing's jaw. The Windclan cat shoved her way through the assembled cats, missing the fact that one was Blizzardstar. She used her tail to motion for Ravenpaw to bring the bundle over. Much like she had done in the den, Sageleaf immediately set to work. This would be tricky. A broken jaw was far from the easiest wound to heal. Thankfully, the she-cat had brought along some of her small collection of bindweed. Blazingwing wouldn't be able to speak well for a while, but it would give the wound some chance at healing itself. She expertly wrapped the tendrils around his jaw and neck. Underneath it was a mixture other other herbs to help prevent any infection and ease the pain a bit. Sageleaf refrained from attempting to give him poppy seeds. They would not do much for a cat that could barely chew.

"I'm not sure whose mouse-brained idea this was, or why any cat raised a claw on a clanmate, but this is unacceptable." Sageleaf sat back when she was finished with the warrior's wounds. Her green eyes were cold as she looked over all of the assembled cats. She was not as harsh as her brother ever, but the young medicine cat did have a 'no-nonsense' attitude about her that sometimes helped to keep the troublesome kits of Windclan in line. All of her kindness was pushed back to put her displeasure at the forefront. She couldn't wait to here what they had to say about this. Her own claws dug into the earth with frustration.
