An Orchid in a Cedar Tree

Cedarpaw sat at the camp entrance, waiting for someone to join a patrol. He was an older apprentice now, the one cat who hadn't yet gotten his name. He wanted to tell them he was ready, that they were mousebrains to keep him back, but deep down he knew that if he wasn't a warrior yet, he wasn't supposed to be one yet. All he could do was work hard, go on patrols, bring back fresh-kill to the clan, and hope that his time would come soon.

The beautiful white she cat with silver tabby spotting came from the apprentice den. Her beautiful blue eyes looking around quietly before she spotted Cedarpaw. She had healed up nicely since the gathering and had only a scar on her shoulder. Flicking her tail she padded over to the tom"hey"she mewed.

Cedarpaw was broken out of his thoughts as a pretty white She-Cat, (he was almost sure her name was Orchidpaw) came walking up. "Hi," He meowed friendly, "Would you like to go on a patrol?"

Orchidpaw smiled some"sure I would love to I'm Orchidpaw by the way"She mewed smiling some.

"Ok then," Cedarpaw meowed, "Umm, I'll lead the way." He didn't know what it was about her, but he seemed to be getting knots in his tongue just being around her. Going out of camp, he went a little ways before stopping and turning around. "Do you want to patrol, or hunt?" Usually he would take every opportunity to patrol, hopefully to fight, but for now he decided to sit back. He hoped he was being kind with letting her choose, but he had no idea what to do around she-cats, especially one his age...

Orchidpaw smiled some flicking her tail"well we can patrol I need to stretch my legs"She mewed.

Cedarpaw nodded. "So, let's go to the Skyclan and Riverclan border first, then follow it to Sunningrocks. And hopefully a squirrel or something will be around, and we can hunt as we please. Sound good?"

Orchidpaw smiled"yeah sounds like a good plan"She mewed and padded beside him our of camp quietly. She started to head for the border
