A Swan in a Field of Lily, Cinder, and Ash

Ashpaw woke from the apprentice den, saddened that her only friend Streampaw had passed on into Starclan. She tried to put on a brave face as she left the den, looking up into the bright blue sky. I miss you Streampaw. She thought sadly. Sighing, she decided to go on a patrol to try to get her mind off things. Maybe she could even meet new cats. Maybe... She sat down by the entrance, looking down on her paws sadly, and began to wait.

Lilypaw was always looking for something to do. She always got out of camp early and explored all around. She had a bit of friends but she always wanted more. Lilypaw was on her way back from a solo stroll when she spotted a she-cat at the entrance of camp. She ran towards her but couldn't stop in time. She tripped and rolled but luckily landed at the paws of the she-cat. She quickly got up and shook some dirt off her fur. Being embarressed she quickly decided to say something. "H-Hello! Sorry for almost rolling into you....I'm Lilypaw. What's your name?"

Cinderpaw padded roughly out of the medicine den, she has been feeling a lot better lately. She could get around okay but her legs and paws felt like she had rocks in them. But she was determined to get better for Jaystream and for Sparkwillow who is looking down at her. It was her fault anyways that she passed on, she could have done something to help not sleeping in coma. She wished she wasn't so shy around others she would love to have somebody to talk to through this. Of course she has Jaystream and Morningfog but they have their own things to deal with. Once she got outside she signed deeply looking to the sky, I miss you so much Sparkwillow, you have shown me so much and I'm sorry I wasn't with you when you left. Her ears twitched as she heard a meow by the entrance and saw two other she's talking. Instantly she looked to her paws shyness taking over her.

Swanpaw stepped out of the apprentice's den, and saw two other apprentices there.
"I'm sorry, am I interrupting something?" she asked, a slight edge to her voice.
She knew it was rude, but she didn't particularly want to socialize, and she couldn't just ignore them.
Maybe she should try and be nice to them? They were her clanmates, after all.

Ashpaw smiled at the friendly cat that came up to her, replying softly, "I'm Ashpaw." She then was surprised as another cat came up, and she was shying away from...her. "Hey, umm, you over there!" She called to the She-Cat, "I don't bite!" At this she laughed. Then she said, "What's your name?" Then, another cat came up, a pale She-Cat with a nasty tone in her voice. "No-no," she stuttered, "Not interrupting at all."

She smiled brightly. "It's nice to meet you Ashpaw!" she chirped. Lilypaw turned to the other two she-cats coming towards them. She flinched a bit at the second's harsh tone but smiled warmly at the shy she-cat. "Hello! I'm Lilypaw!" she greeted the other apprentices. "What are your names?" she asked them both.

Cinderpaw jumped as she heard the voices directed towards her she wobbled over there on semi study legs not looking at them as she mumbled. "H-hello." She can talk to kits just fine but when it came to somebody older then her or her age she immediately shyed away. She flinched as she heard the apprentice harsh tone but smiled a bit at the others. "C-Cinderpaw. That..that is my name." She blushed harshly and her ears flopped down to cover her face. She tried to remember what Morningfog told her about being shy but none of it was coming to her.

Swanpaw saw her chance to make amends, not particularly wanting a negative relationship with her denmates. Her mother's death grieved her, but she shouldn't take it out on cats in her own Clan.
That path led nowhere good, after all.
"I'm Swanpaw," she said simply, in a softer tone. "It's nice to finally learn your names."

Ashpaw smiled as the cats became kinder and they all introduced themselves. She nodded at the She-Cat that had been rude at first. She had never been one to hold a grudge, and friendly meowed, "The same to all of you." Looking around at the group, she suddenly had an idea. "Would you guys like to go on a patrol?" She meowed.

Lilypaw's eyes lightened up. "That's a great idea!" she exclaimed. She looked at the others hoping that they'd say yes. 'The more the merrier.' she thought to herself. "Besides, what else is there to do?" she stated while fixing her composure.

Cinderpaw nodded as she glanced to Swanpaw. "Same to you. ." Then she looked to her paws again at Ashpaw's words. She didn't want to disappoint them but she isn't up to her full strength yet. But she would love to go since she has been stuck here for what felt like forever but she didn't want to hurt herself or slow everyone down. She hesitantly mumbled, "I would but.. I.."

"That sounds like fun," Swanpaw nodded. She didn't want to spend all day in camp, after all - she'd had enough of that as a kit. Now, as an apprentice, her paws were itching with a thirst for adventure.

"Ok then," Ashpaw meowed, "Let's get going..." Her gaze fell to Cinderpaw. She remembered her mentor Jaystream talking about her, and as she looked closer, she could see the cat's worried face. "Is anything wrong? Are you ok?" She meowed softly to the cat.

Lilypaw turned to Cinderpaw when Ashpaw asked if she was alright. "Y-You don't have to come with us if you aren't feeling alright." Lilypaw said with worry.

As she was deciding what to do and Ashpaw looked at her with worry and spoke softly to her it finally occurred to her that this apprentice looked like Jaystream's apprentice. Now she had to go to prove shes not some weak apprentice. Gulping she shook her head then looked up to the two apprentice that were concerned for her. "I..uh..just woke from a coma so I'm kinda out of it still." She laughed weakly. "So I might be slow you all can ditch me if I'm holding you back." She said quickly then started walking to the entrance of camp.
