Dusty Lilacs

Wildkit flinched- she hadn't expected the little kit to hear her. Thinking fast, she rested her head on a pile of leaves and pretended to sleep.

Lilackit relaxed, after hearing no answer. "It must've just been a breeze, or something."

Wildkit relaxed, but still kept her breathing steady and even.

"But those are all the places I know, anyway," Lilackit informed the smaller kit. "We don't get to leave the camp until we're apprentices, after all."

Somewhat relieved to know it was just nothing, somewhat skeptical that it was only nothing, Dustkit remained tense, but no longer fearful. "When do i get to be an apprentice?" she exclaimed wondrously.

"When you're six moons old," Lilackit declared importantly. "I'm almost old enough, but you'll have to wait a while," she added, glancing down at Dustkit.

"Whoa! Thats so cool!" mewed Dustkit ecstatically. "Are you nervous?"

"Well... Yeah. But it can't be too scary!" Lilackit said simply. And she wished it was so simple. Her earlier worries about being an apprentice rushed back to her, and she sighed. "Really, really nervous."
