When the light goes out (OPEN)

Specklefang was tired beyond relief, emotionally that was. With blood again seeping into her pelt from a dead cat that died on her back, a cricked tail and missing ear (thankfully it was the one her father clawed, she didn't need that reminder anymore). Specklefang was reminded of coming back with Leafpaw on her back, after days of infected wounds and starvation. It made her feel sick- but this time she was pregnant, and the stress- what was it going to do to her kits?

Pushing through the camp barrier the she-cat crouched to slide Daylight's limp body in the middle of camp, her face scrunching in grief before she took an inhale to steel herself. Turning on her paws she padded towards Blizzardstars den, her chest aching. "Blizzardstar.." She muttered, her voice sounding tight as she padded into the den without waiting for an affirmative. "There's an aggressive fox on the territory, I request that there's some patrols sent out to chase it off... it attacked Daylight and I while we were out. It- It slain Daylight while he was saving my life." She sputtered, looking to her paws like it was something to be ashamed of to not be able to hold her own against a fox.

Leafstorm padded towards the warrior, his green eyes widening. How could Specklefang be beaten by a simple fox?
"Daylight... he's dead?" He mewed in disbelief.

Swirlpaw had come out of the apprentice den to get food when he saw Specklefang and the limp body she carried. Is that.... a cat? he thought, bewildered. As Specklefang carried the cat's body to the leader's den, the young white-furred tom was able to get a better look. It was Daylight. Swirlpaw felt a pang of surprise and sadness in his stomach as he recognized the tom. But... how? he wondered, his mind scrambled as he tried to realize what he was seeing.

As the she-cat carried Daylight's torn body into the den, Swirlpaw found himself following with surprising speed. He stopped himself short of the entrance, choosing to listen outside. When Specklefang spoke of the fox, Swirlpaw grew dizzy. Foxes can do that to someone? he thought, and they're just allowed to roam freely throughout the clans? The tom was no longer hungry; his appetite had been replaced by a sense of loss and dread.
