Blind Fears

Leafstorm approached the nursery. Although he deeply appreciated Blizzardstar's help, he felt that it was time to take Cherrykit's problem into his own paws.

"Cherrykit, I'm going out." He mewed. "Would you like to come?"

The small tortie ears pricked as she heard her father's voice. Despite everything the small she cat opened her milky green eyes. "Y..yeah I want to come"She mewed slowly getting to her paws ears pricked forward.

Leafstorm gently grabbed his kit by the scruff, carrying her out of the nursery and gently setting her on the ground. So far his kit had only been able to walk a few steps, but he had an idea.

"Cherrykit, I'd like you to walk to me." The tom mewed, taking a few small steps back and sitting down.

Cherrykit blinked and her ear flicked as he spoke. "W..walk to you?"She mewed nervously. Her ears were pricked forward to hear his voice again not catching the sounds of him moving back a bit.

"I'll be right here." He mewed encouragingly. "Just put one paw in front of the other."

Cherrykit's dark ears laid flat against her multicolored head. Milky blind green eyes held fear and uncertainty as she started to put one paw after the other going in a straight line following where she figured he was after he had spoke. She stumbled a little bit.

Leafstorm darted forward as he saw her trip, nudging her gently to her paws.
"There you go- go as slow as you need." He mewed encouragingly.
The tom struggled to choke back tears as he watched his daughter feel her way forward. She walked as if the earth would fall out from underneath her at any moment.

"Use your ears and your nose to guide you." He mewed once he regained control over himself. "And... and use your whiskers to feel the ground."
He struggled to pull random tips out of nowhere, as he could only imagine what it would be like to lose his sight.

The small tortie blinked as she tripped and was about to let out a small whine when her father nudged her back to her paws. She hated the feeling of thinking her paws would not find ground and fall. She forced her ears forward to listen and slowly lowered her head letting her whiskers touch the ground. Each pawsteps shook with fear and nervousness. She moved another paw setting it down before her next pawsteps made her loose he footing and tumble sideways at first. She just laid there for a moment ears flattening against her head"would I ever be able to walk right daddy?"She asked sounding almost deflated.

"O-Of course you will!" Leafstorm got to his feet. "I promise. All you need is a little bit of practice." The tom nuzzled her gently. "You'll be an excellent warrior!"

"I..i hope so....b..but I have to walk first"She mewed quietly giving a tiny purr as he nuzzled her. She tried to get up again quietly. Just barely managing it"i...im going to try again"she mewed.

The tom once again took a couple steps back. "Okay. Remember to go slow."

Cherrykit blinked and nodded slowly"o..okay daddy"She said quietly as she started to move forward towards him slowly with each pawsteps hesitant but not as shaky now. Lowering her head a bit as she paused. She adjusted herself hesitantly and moved forward again but as she made it she wasn't judging how close she was and bumped into her father and stumbled back.

Leafstorm purred, nudging Cherrykit proudly. "That was amazing!" He said proudly.
"Now... do you think you can walk further?"

"I....i can try "She mewed quietly hesitant as she slowly lowered herself down to where she was sitting.

"That's all I want." He mewed.

He turned and walked further, until he was around four foxlengths away. "Okay Cherrykit," He called.
