Leave me alone!

Ashpaw climbed out of the apprentice den, actually excited about being a warrior. Unfortunately, the moment she saw the camp again, teaming with life, she sunk back down into a shadowy corner. She knew that she had to step out of her comfort zone sometimes, but she knew now wasn't that time. Maybe I'll get out of my shell when Jaystream mentors me... Her thought trailed off as she heard paw steps behind her. "Wh...who....who is that?" She timidly asked.

As Firekit awoke from his sleep, he started to walk outside of his den with a good mindset. So Firekit decided that he was going to take a walk around the River clan camp. When Firekit started walking he started to think about how he was going to be an apprentice soon. When Firekit stopped walking, he had randomly ended up right outside the apprentice den. But no one was outside the den besides this one cat with black and grey fur with soft blue eyes. Firekit started wondering if the cat was an apprentice, so he started to walk towards her. When Firekit was really close he heard her ask,"Wh...who....who is that?" "Oh sorry to scare you, I just wanted to know if you were an apprentice" he replied.

Ashpaw laughed when she saw it was one of the new kits, a smaller Tom with a bright orange pelt. "Well..um..it's ok," she stammered, "and, yes I am an apprentice. I'm Ashpaw."

Firekit gleamed with Joy when he heard that Ashpaw was an apprentice because Firekit always wondered about what an apprentice does. "So what kind of cool stuff do you do?" Firekit asked curiously

Ashpaw smiled, she was enjoying the kit's attention. Her tail flickered around, and she meowed, "Well I haven't done anything yet, but when my mentor Jaystream takes me out of camp we'll hunt, patrol, fish, swim, and we'll, that's all I really know." She laughed again, she didn't know much, but it was funny that the kit knew even less. Was I like this? She thought amused.

After Ashpaw told Firekit what an apprentice does, Firekit became really interested in the conversation and asked,"So when you patrol, have you ever run into cats from another clan?".

"Well, I haven't gotten to patrol yet, but yes, it is possible to run into enemy war...warriors." Her voice grew shaky as she thought of it. She knew she would defend her clan with her life, but she shivered at the idea of battle. "And when...when that hap...happens well, you, you find...fight." Her voice continued to quiver, her confidence all gone.

Firkit noticed that after Ashpaw answered the question she became really scared. So Firekit decided to change the subject. "So what is your mentor like?" asked Firekit.
