Just the two of us (Closed for Sun)

Specklefang had just finished her vigil, her mother having relieved her. But with the excitement still in her veins despite having been awake for a sunrise and a sunset, she couldn't sleep! So, what else could she do but do a patrol but the question was.. who was she to go with? Her paws shuffled as she thought, every cat would be quite busy. Lionspark and Hawkpaw were going on their own patrol, accompanied by Falconpaw. Though she realized that she hadn't spent much time with Shrikepaw, especially after she helped him get out of the apprentice's den.

With the thought in mind she quickly padded to the apprentice's normally, her nest still right in the middle seeing as she hadn't moved it out or made her new nest in the area where the warriors normally slept. With a wistful sigh she made her way carefully over to Shrikepaw, a massive paw tapping the tom in the back. "Psst, Shrikepaw. Wake up! Do you want to go on a patrol with me?" The new warrior mewed, shifting on her paws with impatience.

The silver tabby was still drowsy as he sat up in his nest. He shook his head to clear it of sleep and licked down a few patches of fur on his chest. "Oh, hey Specklefang." Shrikepaw meowed, then part his jaws for a big yawn. He was feeling much better now that his fever was gone and he could breathe again. "Huh? Patrol? Sure, that sounds like fun." He purred, beginning to wake more. He was still really grateful to Specklefang for pulling him out of that burning den when he was too sick to see straight. She definitely deserved to be a warrior, and he was proud of her. He stood to his big paws and stepped past all the other apprentices, stretching his spine and flicking his tail as he went. Shrikepaw still had to shake all the sleep from his limbs before he was fully awake.

With a soft and silent purr Specklefang padded after Shrikepaw for a short while before walking ahead, after all this was her patrol. "I was thinking we could go along Shadowclan's border." She meowed, though this was her first time even deciding where they would go. She wasn't going to admit the fact that she was partially only going along Shadowclan's border to see if Waspstep was patrolling, so she could tell the father-like tom that she had gotten her warrior name.

"ShadowClan border? Sounds awesome! I'm down for that." He said, suspecting nothing besides a casual stroll along an enemy border. He hadn't yet been to ShadowClan border, but he wasn't about to directly admit that. He chuckled slightly when Specklefang moved ahead of him, but otherwise just let it happen. He would have his own time to show off when he got his warrior name. He wondered briefly what he would be called before pulling his attention back to Specklefang, meowing teasingly to the she-cat, "So how'd the vigil go? You fight off any enemy patrols while we were all asleep?"

"Nice." Specklefang meowed with a nod of her head, glad that he went along with it without argument. Every step the she-cat took emitted confidence and pride, something she was happy to have. When Shrikepaw asked her about her vigil she smirked and turned to look at him, "Yeah I did! I destroyed them, they were a group of foul rouges and they came in a line. One of those defensive lines, and I bashed right into them, threw some into the water knocked a couple into the trees and sent the rest running!" Specklefang boasted about the fight she didn't have, even then she was extremely animated as she spoke.

"Like this!" Was the only warning for the apprentice as she spun on her paws and leaped onto the tom, her claws sheathed as she collided with him. Using momentum Specklefang flipped them so she was on her back and Shrikepaw was in her paws above her before launching him with a powerful heave of her legs, hoping he'd land right and she didn't hurt him too badly.

Shrikepaw was controlling his amused laughter as best as he could while he listened to Specklefang's absurd story about fighting off waves or rogues during the middle of the night. His own steps were rather steady and grounded, not quite as eccentric as the warrior's nor as loud. He was content to simply listen to her rather than to correct her or call her bluff. "Oh, I'm glad to see you ran 'em off without getting a scratch! It'd be a pity to bloody such lovely fur." Shrikepaw grinned, trying to picture the headstrong warrior actually fighting someone without making enough noise to alert the entire forest. Specklefang would probably have liked some scars to show off to the rest of the clan for her bravery.

Her sudden assault was not expected in the least, and the impact of her charging into him and rolling was startling at best. The force of Specklefang's kick was enough to knock the air from Shrikepaw's lungs, but instead of being launched anywhere he was pushed back onto his haunches. The two cats were decently close in age and, although Specklefang was bigger, Shrikepaw's size was nothing to sneeze at and he had developed strong muscles beneath his long pelt. It took him more than a few heartbeats to regain his breath, and when he finally did, the tomcat had a hard time speaking through laughter. "Specklefang, if you wanna pick a fight, pick it with some of those rogues you chased off! We could track them from here, don't you think?" Part of him was just teasing, but the other part wanted to know if she would actually try to pull something. "Or we could just go fight some ShadowClan fox-hearts like we were gonna do in the first place." He meowed more evenly now that he had fully entertained the idea in his mind.
