The Umber's Flame (open patrol)

Umberflame woke up. It was dusk and the warrior had swore she only took a short nap. Getting up she shrugged sleep off of her and looked around the den, she could still do a patrol there was time left.  "Hey anybody wanna go on one last patril theres still time." She meowed asking the cats who were awake around her.

Cloverpaw looked iver at the older warrior and jumped up. "Ill go!" She meowed padding over and sitting next to Balcktwig's granddaughter.

Owlpaw was bored anyways she jumped to her paws and rushed over. "I want to come!" Her voice full of excitement as she sat next to the apprentice and warrior.

Umberflame nodded. "Alright lets go." The brown she cat led the way out of camp. Her green eyes scanned the forest around them. She scented the air and almost recoiled. She could smell something sour, like prey that had been left out in the sun for to long.

Cloverpaw followed after Umberflame. She scented the air as well and gagged. "Look rotting prey!!" She said going over to the base of a tree with a dead finch. She wrinkled her nose and looked away in disgust.

Owlpaw followed behind of the two cats then a moment later spit out in disgust. "Is that what it is?" She raced to where Cloverpaw was and saw the long dead finch, as her nose winked she managed to say, "Who would leave a piece of prey lying around?"

Cloverpaw shrugged. "Maybe it wasnt a cat? What if it was a badgee or a fox?" She meowed tilting her head to the side.

"Why would a fox or badger do that though? That does not sound like them from what I've heard..." Owlpaw looked on in confusion. "What do you think Umberflame?"

Im not sure. Dont touch it though." Umberflame meowed lashing her tail.

A thick mist began to slowly roll in from the edges of the clearing, it consumed each plant in it's wake silently frosting it over. It moved rather rapidly in a supernatural manner, and before any of the cats could meow a word, it blanketed them heavily. The oppressive blanket muffled any words, made breathing hard and hid them from sight. None could see each other, even though they were all only centimetres apart. The only thing that could be heard was an echoing sound that resembled discombobulated laughter.

Cloverpaw tried to shriek but her voice was lost to the mist it was like it snuffed out her voice. She couldnt see a thing so she freaked out.

Owlpaw saw the mist engulf Umberflame first then Cloverpaw. What was happening? She tried to yowl out for them but the thick fog took her voice. Maybe if she goes where they just were she'll bump into them? It scared her to no end how the mist seemed to be laughing at her. Her heart started beating fast and her hackles rose.

Umberflame hussed as the mist closed in on her and seemd to laugh as it blanketed the other cats. The fog was to thick for her to even speak and she worried about the apprentices.

The mist closed in on each cat, invisible claws seemed to pull at their pelts, dragging them into the depths of a mist like a beast toying with it's prey. It's touch was icy, devoid of all life as the mist whipped up into an almost frantic maelstrom that had leaves rustling. The fog built up and up in it's fervour before finally it came to a stop and everything cleared.

However, where the three cats once stood, there was only one.

Umberflame and Cloverpaw were gone.

Owlpaw yowled out as it felt like they were attacked by something but she couldn't see anything just mist. She could do nothing but take the hits not able to fight back.
When suddenly the mist cleared away she fell to her paws confusion and pain clouded her gaze. She looked around her for Umberflame and Cloverpaw but they were gone..simply vanished. "Umberflame! Cloverpaw! Where are you!?" Getting back to her paws she went to where they were just standing her head whipped around, her heart beating faster and faster. She tried to sniff the air but there was no scent of them. "Umberflame! Please..where did you go? Cloverpaw?" Her vision started clouding over as thoughts got to her head. Did the mist took them? Why did it feel like claws were tearing at them? Maybe if she was right by their side this would not have happened at all. Now they are who knows where.There didn't seem like scents of any other cat here. Tears streamed down her face as she called again her voice becoming frantic, "Cl-over-paw! Um-ber-flame?"
