Duskpaw's Hunting Patrol

Swiftheart went to the edge of the island near the stream surrounding it. She drank from the water and turned around. She eyed at the apprentice den. Duskpaw's mentor went missing, she didn't want him to be apprenticed for a long time like herself. She stuck her head into the apprentice den. "Duskpaw, I want to do a hunting patrol." she said.

Duskpaw was just about to drift off to sleep, right next to his sibling Weaselpaw, when he heard Swiftheart's call to wake him up. He lifted himself up wearily, quickly groomed himself and padded out to meet his new mentor.. He thought? He couldn't remember at all, but he assumed it was her. 
"Hunting patrol?" Duskpaw enquired, perking up a bit. "That sounds cool." He yawned, then quickly shook his head to wake himself up. He ran his paw over his ear a few times to tame the unruly, puffed up fur, then waited for Swiftheart to reply.

Swiftheart smiled and nodded. "Alright. Follow me." She turned around into the territory.

Duskpaw's ear twitched again, and he swiftly followed Swiftheart into Riverclan's territory.

Swiftheart found the river and stepped into the shallows. "Alright, now when you see a fish pass, it'll look like silver and shadow. When you see it, grab it with your claws. Like this." She said. She saw the silver and black shape in reach. She swiftly swiped a paw at it and pulled out a fish. Its silver scales glistened in the sunlight. She set it down and bit into it to quickly kill it.

Duskpaw nodded, his luminescent eyes closely following his mentor's swift movements. He creeped up to the rushing river, keen eyes focused on the water. His claws quickly unsheathed as a silvery shape skated through the rough waters, and his tail began to lash. He made sure his shadow wasn't on the water, and two dark grey paws gripped the slippery fish, pulling it out of the water with ease. He gazed proudly at his catch, thinking about how scrumptious it would be before he remembered the elders got fed first.

Swiftheart smiled and looked in the river for more fish. She saw a fish swimming calmly and she was thinking about trying another way of catching it. She quickly caught the fish in her jaws and set it down.

The reeds didn't make a sound as a small mist started to seep pass them and into the small clearing near the river banks. The movement was slow, gathering over time on the edge of the reeds before it started to roll toward the two hunting cats. The air around the fog was cold - bringing a chill to the air that wasn't there moments before as it started to gather around the paw of Swiftheart and Duskpaw, but the bulk of the mist seemed to circle the warrior she-cat.

Swiftheart eyes widened as mist surrounded her. 'It was sunny a moment ago... where did this mist come from?' she wondered. "We... should go back... to camp..." she murmured. She intended to talk normally, but instead talked hesitantly and quietly. Anxiety pulsed through her as a thought crossed her mind, 'Which was is the camp?'.

Duskpaw's mouth slowly opened as cool mist encircled and eventually engulfed them. He heard Swiftheart's soft murmur, jaws agape. His back fur bristled, and small, sharpened claws unsheathed in an aggressive way to calm down. "Come on!" he tried to shout, but his voice quivered like a leaf. 
"I-I t-think camp is.. this way." His long tail pointed in the direction he thought they had came from, and started walking until he stepped on a small pointy rock. Hissing in irritation, he realised his breath cleared the fog. Well, sort of. He could see a little ahead of him, but not much more. "Try blowing or fanning your tail," he whispered to her. "It helps."

As Duskpaw started to move away, the mist suddenly surged. While it had been moving in a soft circle around their paws, it picked up pace as it started to curl around Swiftheart's legs, body...Restraining the she-cat as a force was put onto her. It grew thicker, lapping almost hungrily at the warrior's fur as it moved even faster, almost forming a cyclone that threaten to consume the warrior before it blocked her from sight. For a few heart-beats, there was nothing until it started to recede. This time, there was a thickness to it as it moved away rather fast...Leaving nothing in its wake.

Swiftheart was gone, her scent ending right then and there.
