Training the Nut and the Finch (Open for RainyHeart)

Finchpaw jumped, mocking shock and surprise when Nutpaw jumped up onto the shallows with her, but couldn't contain her laughter. Rolling back over onto her side, she grinned at her friend before purring; "What are we, kits? What happened to hunting for the clan?" Giggling, the silver tabby jumped to her paws and shook off, smirking as water droplets splashed onto her friend's coat. "Lets get back to hunting, before someone catches us."

"You're right," Nutpaw replied, climbing from the water and onto the shore. She snorted in annoyance as she was sprayed by Finchpaw shaking, and shook off her own pelt in return. 
"At least we caught some fish. And we'll do catch more soon, right?" Nutpaw remarked, "Except for the fact we probably just scared all the fish in the river away,"

"Oh." Finchpaw stood up and gazed around the shallow cove, noticing with embarrassment that no fish or ripples could be sighted in any direction. "Yea, I think we did." Laughing, Finchpaw climbed out of the river onto the bank, and waved her still wet tail dismissively. "Let's head back upstream; we'll probably find some more fish if we find a new spot farther away." Picking up her already caught fish, Finchpaw waited for Nutpaw to fall in to walk beside her.

"Good idea. There'll be more fish there," Nutpaw agreed, picking up her catch and falling into step beside Finchpaw. As she walked beside her friend, Nutpaw noticed the amount of fish grew slightly larger the farther away from their play site that the two walked. She was glad that she was still able to have fun now that she was an apprentice, and she was now able to catch prey for the clan as well.

Finchpaw purred, and trotted alongside her friend along the river until they came to a little sandy spot, ripples surfacing on the river giving away the prey's position.  With an excited meow, Finchpaw dashed down to the bank and crouched down, her eyes locked onto the water.  After a short while she had a small pile beside her; the fish she had caught earlier, along with a small pike, and a couple minnows.  Pulling back, the silver tabby watched her friend, seeing what she would pull up.

(Maybe Nutpaw could trigger some battle training? ;D)

Once Finchpaw ran to the river shore, Nutpaw trotted after to join her. This place definitely had more fish than where they had made a ruckus, that was for sure. Soon, Nutpaw had managed to catch two minnows and a small salmon. Once she noticed her friend was looking at her, she smiled back.
"Well now we caught some prey, so can we do battle training now?" Nutpaw asked.

Finchpaw was about to congratulate her friend on her catches, but suddenly it felt like her heart stopped, her mouth open as if she had paused in the middle of a sentence. Oh StarClan, help me! "Uh..um...y..yea sure! Let's do it!" Trying to disguise the apprehension in her voice the best she could, Finchpaw pushed her pile of fish away from the bank before standing up, digging her claws into the sand anxiously. Taking a deep breath, the silver tabby she-cat retracted her claws and crouched down, waiting for her friend to make the first move, heart pounding rapidly in her chest.

OOC: I'm not going to use the battle system, unless you have a preference.

IC: "Just using sheathed claws, right?" Nutpaw decided. Nutpaw smiled slightly and pushed her fish out of the way as well. Crouched down into a battle stance, wondering how good at this she would be. Noticing Finchpaw's wary expression, Nutpaw decided not to make it seem to much like a real battle. Nutpaw shifted slightly on her paws before lurching forward towards her friend. She brought her paws down over Finchpaw's head, trying to mimic claws.

Her furry paws shaking, Finchpaw watched and waited for Nutpaw's attack, eyes wide and gleaming with fear. She saw her light brown friend coming at her quickly, but was too stuck in place to scramble out of the way. She felt a light paw crash down on top of her head, and couldn't help the terrified squeal that escaped from her maw. Jumping back, the silver tabby's heart raced frantically as she looked at her friend, trying to find something to do next. Breath coming is gasps, Finchpaw dashed forward and pounced onto Nutpaw's back, wrapping her paws around the she-cat's belly to hold on for dear life. It was a kit move, but in the moment it was the only thing Finchpaw could think of that wouldn't possibly hurt her or her friend. Besides, Finchpaw had never trained for fighting with Squirreltuft before her mentor went missing.

(Poor Finch xD She has a pathological fear of blood, injuries, and battle)

Nutpaw instinctively arched her spine when Finchpaw landed on her. Ducking out away, she lunged forward and tried to pin her down. She noticed Finchpaw's worried expression, and wondered if she was doing something wrong.

OOC: Who should win this?

Finchpaw let out a shocked yelp when she was torn from Nutpaw's back, and landing on her back on the ground with a hard thump. Breathing heavily, the silver and white she-cat's heart raced as she started up at her chestnut friend, who had pinned her flat to the ground. Anxious eyes widening, Finchpaw didn't try to move or escape; her mind had gone totally blank. Sighing, the small apprentice shifted onto her side, and gazed up at her den-mate with an embarrassed frown. Eyes flashing between Nutpaw's face and the ground evasively, she meowed in a small voice; "I..I'm sorry Nutpaw, I guess today's not really my....best day."

(Nutpaw just did ;D)

"It's okay. We all have stuff that we aren't as good at, and you always feel so stupid while doing it when you are having an off day. Also, did I do well while arching my spine? I was excited to try it out," Nutpaw comforted, eyes and mixture of sympathy and refreshing cheer. Nutpaw hoped she wasn't making her friend feel bad in any way.

Finchpaw nodded, and managed to force out a purr, before pushing her friend off of her and standing up. Smiling, the silver and white she-cat replied; "Thanks for understanding Nutpaw....and yea! That move was really good, I didn't stand a chance!" Chuckling a bit, the small she-cat walked back over to her pile of fish, and managed to pick them all up at once in her jaws. Unable to speak, Finchpaw motioned her head back towards camp, before padding off in that direction. They should get the fish back to camp quickly before they spoiled in the sun, but more than that Finchpaw wanted to avoid Nutpaw mentioning a rematch. I'm hopeless, how can I ever be a warrior now?

Nutpaw stayed silent and picked up her cluster off fish. She could tell Finchpaw was a little embarrassed at being beaten, and hoped that that would go away soon. She wanted her friend to be happy. She followed after Finchpaw towards camp, wondering if they would be doing anything else today. Probably not, as apprentices they did have duties. Nutpaw sighed through her mouthful of fish she was carrying, and continued padding along with Finchpaw until they had nearly reached camp.
