Birthright (Open for Shadow)

Fallenpaw's mind was lost in thought. Her eyes were narrowed as she slipped into the camp, a mouse and a large toad hanging from her jaws. She'd been hunting all morning and having already fed the queens and elders, she set the mouse on the pile and took the toad for herself, crouching down in the shadows of the camp. But she didn't start eating. Instead, the cat was thinking about Wolffang's treachery. Her split ear twitched with the memory of Venompaw's claws slicing through it, not long after she and Wolffang had fought. She'd claimed Wolffang was violent and Fallenpaw couldn't help wondering if the black cat had seen something that made her think so, because sure enough, Wolffang had proven to be everything she'd said she was. But is it the same for me? She shifted uncomfortably, the barely half-healed scars on her face wrinkling as her eyes narrowed even further. The memory of what she'd felt as she lifted her paw, claws slicing through the fur on Venompaw's throat...she could have killed her in the blink of an eye, and no one would have been able to do anything other than watch the black cat choke on her own blood. ...Was she right about me? The tabby apprentice crouched in the shadows, completely lost in thought while her toad lay forgotten at her paws.

OOC: Okay you know what, I'm just gonna drop Lynx in here because, y'know, bonding time for soon to be step-mother and son

IC: Lynxpaw was padding around camp, going to get some prey before going out for some more training. He was picking up the mouse newly dropped on the fresh-kill pile, when he noticed Fallenpaw sitting off to one side, her gaze clouded with what he could only perceive to be a mixture of fear and anger. Trotting over, he tilted his head to study her for a few seconds
"What're you doing? You're just sitting here. If you're not gonna eat that toad I'll take it" He was acting as though he didn't care, but couldn't help sitting down next to her with slight concern in his eyes "And what's the matter? You look a bit... off"

He'd known the she-cat for a while, they'd been in the nursery together although it was mostly Ryepaw that had played with her. He'd never paid her much attention, but when they became apprentices around the same time he began to speak with her more. Admittedly, he wasn't usually the caring type, but there was something about the horror and pure rage in her eyes that sparked his concern and curiosity

Fallenpaw jumped slightly at the sound of Lynxpaw's voice. She hadn't heard the brown tabby tom pad over, only noticing he was there when he spoke. Her tail flicked and she nudged the toad towards him, tucking her paws under her chest. Lynxpaw and his brother were one of the few cats who didn't seem to share the hatred of rogue borne cats like herself, so she felt herself relaxing slightly from when she'd tensed. "Go ahead, if you want it. Not really hungry," she said quietly.
Her torn ear flicked as she looked back over at him. "Just thinking about Wolffang," she admitted. "I can't believe someone would do a thing like that, and to Honeydrop no less." She didn't say what was really on her mind, but her brows narrowed as she once again found herself lost in thought.

Lynxpaw just looked at her with slight pity in his eyes.
"No, you eat, you need it more than me right now." Concern was written all over his features, but he replied with a once again nonchalant tone
"And yeah, I see where you're coming from but she was crazy, completely nuts. Venompaw keeps insisting it's her half-clan blood but I don't know" he took a bite of his mouse, speaking around the mouthful "but I don't know, what do you think?"

Lynxpaw was slightly worried about her, she wasn't acting right. Although everyone was, of course, shocked by Wolffang's attempted murder, it seemed to have hit her personally

It had been days since Thrushstar had been out of his den. Wolffang's exile hit him a lot harder than he had anticipated and it felt like it took ages to mend his mind. Even as he lay in his den, the insanity that he hadn't felt for a long time crept back in, leaving him in a manic state. He was almost scared to leave his den like this. However, as the moon hung high in the air, he felt as if he were getting back on track. He lost count of how many times night turned into day as he lay there, only moving when a warrior or apprentice brought him some food. He knew he made the right choice, but the problem was that his brain took the tiny idea of wiping Shadowclan clean of half-clan blood and ran with it, increasing his irritation with those in his camp and slowly making him think that it was more of a good idea than it sounded.

Finally now, he thought he had it under control. He stood up and shook out his fur, finally thinking of trying to get food for himself this time around. With a numbed sigh, he padded out and headed straight for the fresh kill pile only to stop dead in his tracks as his eyes landed on Fallenpaw who had been missing for a while now. Immediately a growl built up in his throat as he narrowed his eyes at the she-cat. Rogue blood... Should he trust her? How long had she been here? He thought that she had been missing, or worse, he thought she ran away never to be seen again. And now she had the nerve to come back like nothing happened? The nagging feeling of his terrible idea pulled at his brain again, his eyes and judgment clouded over as he relapsed.

"What are you doing here?" He asked after storming towards the apprentice. "You think you can... just come back as if nothing happened?" What if she was meeting with other cats? Would she stay loyal to Shadowclan? He couldn't wait and find out. He needed her gone, especially if these week-long disappearances were going to continue.
