Welp, here goes nothing! (Patrol for Fawnpaw, others welcome)

Quailfeather made her way out of her mossy nest, nearly stumbling over her mate Silentstrike, who lay next to her. Her paws, gray speckled following white, trod out onto the green, grassy ground of camp, half-frozen by the chilly morning air. Her breath showed in a puffy white cloud as the sky turned slowly from black to orange to pink. Her father had assigned her and her new apprentice, Fawnpaw, on the dawn patrol. Of course, she was still extremely new to the whole mentor business, so she hoped other warriors and apprentices might come along. She had told her apprentice beforehand when to get up, so hopefully the she-cat would be right along.

Fawnpaw heard the call from her mentor and the brownish cream and white she cat blinked and woke slowly. She flicked her fluffy tail before she got to her paws and came from the apprentices den to her mentor"morning"she mewed.

Sandybreeze looked up from her spot to see Quailfeather and Fawnpaw gathering at the entrance. She had been in a down mood with her kit dying and then not long after that her brother died as well, so she decided that today she was going to be productive. Swiftheart wouldn't have wanted her to mope around all day. Sighing softly to herself, she heaved herself to her paws and padded over to them. "Mind if I join y'all?" She meowed, a half smile on her muzzle.

Quailfeather smiled at Fawnpaw. "Morning. Ready for your training?" Her nervousness cleverly refuelled into excitement, she shook out her gray speckled fur. The young warrior blinked as Sandybreeze walked up. Falconstone's mate. The title in itself was foreboding. Falconstone, the son of Kestrelstorm the codebreaker, the tom who had tried to remove her father as deputy. But the moment her quick mind started judging, she shook off the thought almost immediately. It wasn't fair to judge any cat by who they associated with. What if someone judged her just because she was Silentstrike's mate, or because she was Smokepelt's daughter, no matter his much she loved those cats? No; no, that wasn't right. So instead Quailfeather smiled at Sandybreeze and dipped her head. "You're definitely welcome to come along; I could use all the help I can get." Her frosty blue eyes glanced around camp, silently inviting anyone else to join as well. She would turn no one away. Except... Except maybe Falconstone.

Silentstrike quietly awakened at the sound of his mate nearly tumbling over him, and he let out a slight chuckle. He got up, stretching his legs and back, eager to start the day.When he turned to speak to Quailfeather, he realized that she had already gone off with Fawnpaw. He padded up to them, craning his neck slightly as he spoke."Hey, mind if I join ya?" He hadn't even noticed Sandybreeze among them, but he gave a curt nod when he did."Good morning." He looked back to Quailfeather, ready to see where they were going.

Quailfeather smiled at the sight of her mate. "Yes, of course, Silentstrike," she purred. "Now, is that everyone?" She glanced around camp, seeing if anyone else wanted to join the patrol. When no one did, she smiled and started walking away. "Well, I guess we should start off then! We'll be patrolling the ShadowClan border, if everyone is okay with that."

Sandybreeze laughed at Quailfeather's response, "Thanks." She meowed, glancing at Fawnpaw with a smile. She glanced up to see Silentstrike coming over to join them and she was about to greet him when he nodded at her, but a wave of confusion swept over her features before it was replaced with a polite smile. "Morning." She responded softly. She had never spoken to Silentstrike before and it puzzled her as to why he was so curt with her. Then it dawned on her. Falconstrike. She knew others disliked him quite a lot, but she never expected others to take it out on her. Or change the way they thought of her. She sighed inwardly, but kept quiet. Best not to start anything. She nodded as Quailfeather told them they would be patrolling the ShadowClan border and followed her out onto the moor.
