Ryekit's Apprentice Ceremony

"Let all cats old enough to... capture their own prey gather underneath Jaggedrock for a clan meeting!" Thrushstar yowled.

Ryekit padded out of the nursery with an energetic smile on his pale ginger face. He looked around for a moment before he sat down and looked up at Thrushstar.

"Tonight we gather to make this kit an apprentice," Thrushstar said. "Ryekit, from now until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Ryepaw. Your mentor will be Wilfang. May he teach you everything that he knows." With that, Thrushstar leaped off of the rock to let the clan finish the ceremony.

Ryepaw dipped his head respectfully to Thrushstar before turning and touching noses with his new mentor.

Shadewillow had watched his sons apprentice ceremony proceed with a fierce light of pride within his eyes, a thrill of nostalgia coursing through him as Ryepaw received Wildfang as a mentor- Wildfang had been his own mentor all those moons ago after all. Tilting his head up, he began to chant his sons name happily as he weaved his way through the crowd towards his son.

Lynxkit, who had obviously been watching in total silence from the edge of the crowd this whole time, chanted his brother's name along with his father, smiling proudly. His brother was an apprentice, and he was happy for him, but he couldn't wait to be made one himself.

He padded up to sit beside Shadewillow and meowed "Good luck Ryepaw!"

Turning around, he caught sight of his brother Lynxkit and their father Shadewillow.  Purring, the pale ginger tom dashed over to the pair and nuzzled each of them happily.  humping his head against his brother's shoulder, Ryepaw meowed challengingly; "You gotta catch up to me quick Lynxkit, or I'll to be a warrior before you're even out of the nursery!" His voice teasing, the young tom felt excitement and energy fill his soul as he thought of the times ahead.
