Gustpaw's Assessment

Thistlefall stood at the edge of camp, shooting a dark blue gaze around the little clearing. He had planned a patrol with Gustpaw, his apprentice, but what he hadn't told her was that he planned it being her assessment. So, the warrior waited.

When Gustpaw saw her mentor sitting around the edge of camp, she knew that he was planning something. But what? A patrol? "Hey, Thistlefall. Watcha doin'?"

Thistlefall smiled as his apprentice grew closer, [color]=#006699]"waiting for you, come on, I've planned a patrol."[/color] He informed with a brisk flick of his tail and without waiting for a reply turned and pushed himself through the gorse tunnel that lead out into the open territory.

Following closely after her mentor, Gustpaw looked around as they exited the gorse tunnel and out into the open territory."Anything special planned for today?" She gazed around at the beautiful moor, hopefully filled with prey.

Thistlefall smiled, "yes actually, today is your assessment." He purred, confident she was ready to prove herself in the ways of becoming a warrior. They walked out into the wind swept territory and he eventually stopped in a little clearing where the grass was a bit shorter. He turned to look at her. "Think you're ready?"

She grinned at her adoptive brother, excited for her assessment."I-I am ready!" She was excited to finally be a warrior alongside her sister, and all of her adopted siblings, too! "So, what do you want me to do? Hunt? Battle?" She was genuinely curious as to what she would be doing today, and whether or not she would do good enough to finally become a warrior after the tough training as an apprentice.

"Hunting." He replied quickly, facing her. "I want you to catch two hares, think you can do it?" He asked, knowing she could. With his training, passed down from Smokepelt, his apprentices could achieve anything.

After hearing Gustpaw's reply of confidence and watching her dart away, he quickly moved away, sneaking through what bits of bushes were provided in their territory, otherwise he found himself hiding in the tall dry grasses. The warrior kept a close eye on his apprentice.

After burying her first piece of prey, Gustpaw continued to sniff out another hare.  After a million scents hit her nose, she finally singled out the scent of a plump hare. This must be my lucky day! She followed the scent daftly, finally reaching the hare with a wide grin on her muzzle. After leaping upon the fattened hare, she bit into its neck, the hunt was done. She smiled triumphantly, and went to find her other hare that she caught before, and to sniff out her brother from his hiding place."Thistlefall, I'm finished!"

Thistlefall emerged from his hiding, padding out to meet Gustpaw. "Good job! I'd definitely say you're ready to become a warrior." He encouraged with a proud tone to his voice. "Now, let's run back to camp and tell Ashstar what a successful hunt you had."
