As clear As Mist [Open]

Mistywater slipped out of the warriors den. She felt like it would be best to interact with some family members and that had not happened in quite a long time. She looked around, hoping to find Blacktwig or at least some cat to talk to.

Blacktwig was in camp. He had been mulling over so many things, like his sister, Sheepnose's, loss of grip on her emotions. He glanced around. Pinewhisker was nowhere to be seen; he was most likely spending time with Emberheart. The tomcat tucked his paws underneath his body, noting Mottledwing's frequent absences. Where was she? The warrior always came back at the end of the day. It was when he was absorbed in thought when he heard it.

The crunching of snow outside. He got up, shaking out his fur. He padded out, stretching. "Patr-" he began, before he saw the silver-and-black she-cat. He blinked. She hadn't been out of the warriors' den a lot lately. "Mistywater?" Blacktwig asked, walking up to her. Since she had been inactive, he wanted to talk to her. He sat down. "How are you?" he inquired politely.

Mistywater jumped up and turned around at the sudden appearance of her son "Hello" she mewed "I'm...I'm ok" she mewed "I am still feeling super tired though, I am sorry for not being out as often" she explained, her voice soft and calm. She wondered about Blacktwig and his mate, how she was doing and if he knew anything new "How is Emberfall? Have you visited her?" she asked.

"I saw her at the border lately... but she must be busy with Flamepaw." Blacktwig assumed. He wondered where Emberfall was... the pretty calico she-cat was alright, as far as he knew. He had been desperately trying to take care of his kits here, in ThunderClan, but it seemed that his attempts to save Mothstrike from her inevitable passing proved futile. He nearly winced from the thought, as if it were a scar slashing his pelt. At least he had Mottledwing... right?

Mistywater nodded quietly "I was thinking...What if something were to happen to me? Like something important happens and I'm not here for that" she mewed, closing her eyes at the thought. She tucked her paws closer a little more "What if I'm..." she couldn't continue. It was too horrible to continue.

"No, no!" Blacktwig begged. Mistywater was elderly now - yes, certainly older than him, a lifetime older than him - but no. It couldn't happen. Mistywater couldn't speak of herself like this! He nearly curled up at her paws and whimpered like a kit. "Don't say that," he said quietly.

Mistywater opened her eyes "Well..." she mewed, her voice a little brighter now. She turned around, facing Blacktwig and licking his forehead "We don't live forever...Sadly" she mewed. She sighed "Blacktwig, when you grow old tell your grandkits all the adventures you've had and tell them stories. Tell them about the Clans and about your life when you were so, so very young and so adventurous. Encourage them. Make them live happy lives, tell them they'll become leader someday and they will live forever" she mewed "Tell them the unbelievable" she finished with a sad smile.

"Mistywater..." he said with a half-sorrowful, yet hearty chuckle. "I already have grandkits." Blacktwig's eyes darted around awkwardly, but they were bright with pride. He imagined Goldenpaw, Umberkit, all of them... so beautiful.

OOC: NOOOOOOOOO. WHY WAS NOT HERE FOR THIS STUFF

Mistywater smiled "I know." She mewed "Next time you see them. Tell them, tell them everything you know" she purred "I'm proud of you Blacktwig. You are happy. I was too" she mewed "But I'm too old. I may be a great grandmother but I'm not going yet." she mewed "I will leave when I want. No one will take me" she mewed.

Blacktwig smiled weakly. "I won't let them," he vowed, pushing his muzzle into Mistywater's soft fur. He felt like a little kit again. "I promise." Blacktwig chuckled lightly.

Mistywater smiled and wrapped her head around Blacktwig "I know you will. You always keep your promises" she purred. She pulled away from him "Is there anything new besides kits?" she asked "I have been pondering about your life mainly." she mewed "Any new friends?" she asked.

"Well..." he said. "My old ones have grown, and Halfpaw is soon becoming a warrior," the tom reported proudly, his mind swarming with thoughts of what the tortoiseshell apprentice's warrior name could be. Halfpelt? Halfclaw? Blacktwig thought busily.

Mistywater nodded "Good." she purred "I remember when you had you warrior ceremony" she mewed "I was eager for hearing your name." she explained, knowing the same thing must of been happening with Blacktwig. She flicked her tail in the snow, spilled some on the black tom purposely.

Blacktwig smirked playfully as snow flecked his clean, black speckled pelt. He crouched back, hindquarters wriggling, and he sprayed snow up onto his mother, Mistywater's, silver-and-black fur. He giggled, bouncing backwards with a smile.

Mistywater laughed and she stood up. She dug her feet deep into the snow and began to run. Because she had done this a ton of snow came onto Blacktwig. She turned her head back and smiled. This is the fun she missed. As she had turned around she realized something. Blacktwig looked just like a kit again to her. Same smile, same body, same...everything.
