Lionkit's Apprentice Ceremony

The first dip in the temperature had happened last night. There were still huge piles of leaves all across camp, and each one had its edges of frost that were quickly melting in the rays of the rising sun. Would this Leafbare be colder than the last? To be fair, the only one she knew was from when she was but an apprentice, however, she had to remain optimistic that this was completely normal. She leaped up onto her perch and was reassured by the warming sunlight. "All cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather under the Highrock for a clan meeting!"

At Darkstar's call, Lionkit came rocketing out of the nursery. Her eyes were glimmering with joy as her fur bristled - half from the cold air, half from sheer excitement. She quickly slide to a stop as she forced herself to sit down but couldn't stop herself from shifting her weight back and forth as she just couldn't manage to stay still. It was time - she could finally explore the forest as an apprentice! She would be able to see every inch of the ThunderClan territory and even the borders into the other Clans. Her excitement was almost tangible as she imagined all the sights she would get to see. Her claws kneed the ground as she shifted back and forth even faster, wanting this ceremony to be done with so that she could be an apprentice already!

Darkstar's eyes glittered with amusement at seeing the kit so excited. It was starting to become a bit contagious! "Lionkit. please step forward."

Relief flooded though Lionkit when Darkstar called for her to step forward, happily jumping to her paws as she took a few steps forward. Her tail swished back and forth as she did her best not to seem overly excited but if one looked really close, one could tell that Lionkit was almost vibrating in place as the moment that she would be then known as Lionpaw grew closer and closer. It was a wonder how she didn't explode from the sheer excitement she was forced to withheld.

A purr rumbled in Darkstar's throat. "Lionkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you shall be known as Lionpaw." She let her gaze flicker across the camp until she found the cat she was looking for. "Bramblefrost. I know you are young, but I believe you have the skill to teach Lionpaw well." The leader looked at her son with pride, as if she wasn't the one conducting the ceremony in the first place. He'd been made a warrior while she was ill, she was a bit disappointed in not being able to do his ceremony herself, but what could she have done? Either way, she was overly proud of him.

She was now an apprentice. It was so hard to describe the joy that Lionpaw now felt as she scanned the clearing of cats for her new mentor. Bramblefrost, huh? She knew little of the tom - only that he was one of Darkstar's kits. Lionpaw felt it was odd that she was getting a newly appointed warrior as her mentor but she wasn't going to question Darkstar so upon finding the older tom, she bounded over to him as she leaned up to touch his nose with glimmering eyes. She could only hope that her training would start quickly so that she could explore the forest even sooner.
