Things.. Things might be the Same [After the Gathering]

The Dark Forest? What? Sunpaw's head was spinning. He didn't want to disobey his leader, but......he didn't want to abandon StarClan. He knew they were still there somewhere....they had to be, right? But he didn't want to be exiled either....

Moonpaw’s jaw dropped with Crowstar’s words, of all the things that she would ever think that would happen at the gathering, this wasn’t even between them. The silver tabby she-cat looked at her paws, clearly shocked, StarClan…was gone? It was so hard to believe, but Crowstar was right, there wasn’t a single star in the sky. Hwy, now that she thought about it, she couldn’t remember ever seeing a single star in the sky, not even when she first looked up at the darkened night sky during her kithood. If she believed in them, and in StarClan, was because of what she had heard of the other cats, those who had seen the stars.

She raised her head and focused on the leader once more, part of her couldn’t help but feel bad for what was going on, feel that it was terribly wrong, but Crowstar’s words made her think. Maybe she was just afraid of change, maybe she was so used to thinking of StarClan as their only protectors that she was having troubles to accept the change, just like the black leader said earlier. The young apprentice took a deep breath to calm herself and force that voice in the back of her head trying to convince her that this was wrong to shut up for once and for all, ready to follow her leader and mentor, even if that meant swearing loyalty to the Dark Forest. This was the beginning of a whole new era, and she wasn’t going to let her leader nor her clan down.

Moonpaw looked at Nettletail as she was named deputy, lowering her head respectfully before talking “Congratulations!” She meowed, wondering if she should just leave it at that or call her name like the clan usually did when a new deputy was appointed.

Antdrop looked up at Crowstar, his heart about to pound out of his chest. Who would the leader choose? There were dozens of cats eager for a chance to prove themselves, but the black tom knew there was only room for one deputy. Surely his father would pick him, Crowstar had to have see how hard he'd been working recently, or all his hard work was for nothing. After what seemed like ages of Crowstar talking about the recent events, his father finally announced the new deputy, Nettletail.

The tom's ears laid flat on his head and he tried to hide a look of disgust, although he probably wasn't doing a very good job. Why wasn't I chosen? I'm just as good as Nettletail! Antdrop thought to himself, flexing his claws. How was he ever supposed to prove himself to his father, if he never got the chance to? Was it because he was mates with Pebblethorn, a cat who didn't even love her kits and could care less about talking to her mate? Honestly, Antdrop loved his beautiful kits, but now he was starting to rethink becoming mates with that she-cat, especially if it'd ruined his chances of becoming deputy.

Not saying a word, Antdrop stood up and walked towards the edge of the crowd of cats, sitting down. He let out a sigh, his black tail lashing back and forth, as he looked to the she-cat who'd stand by his father for days to come. I'll prove to him that I'm his best warrior, I swear my life on it.

Baykit stared up at Crowstar wondering what was going on. He could tell that there was some sort of distress between the older cats, but nothing seemed to bother him. The tom-kit padded backwards towards the nursery. He didn't want to be involved in any strife, and seeing angst amongst other cats bothered him. He padded into the nursery, but curiosity made him continue to watch from the open entrance of the den.
