Seedkit's Apprentice Ceremony

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the willow branch for a Clan meeting!" Fishstar shouted from above the morning rabble of RiverClan camp.

Hazelkit padded out of the nursery, knowing it wasn't hers, but her friend's Seedkit's. She purred, nudging her friend ahead of her. "Congratulations! See you in the elders' den cleaning out ticks in a moon!" She waved her tail in happiness.

Toadpaw padded out of the apprentices den, he looked tired. His eyes were dull and he seemed worried. He sat far from Hazelkit and looked at Fishstar.

While waiting for the ceremony to star, Hazelkit padded over to Toadpaw. She didn't want to interrupt the ceremony, so she didn't speak, but sad down, and purred, trying to make him feel better.

Seedkit's pelt was glossy and well-groomed. For six whole moons she had been waiting for this moment. She was sitting down with the other cats underneath the willow branch. With bright, excited eyes she looked up at Fishstar, smiling.

"Seedkit, please step forward," Fishstar said when she spotted the she-cat.

The kit excitedly stepped forwards, trying to keep calm and look "professional". She continued to look up at Fishstar.
I wonder who my mentor will be! She thought.

"You have now reached the age of six moons," Fishstar meowed, "and are ready to be apprenticed. From this day forth until you receive your warrior name, you shall be known as Seedpaw. Your mentor shall be Poolmist. May her knowledge and skills pass on to you."

With eagerness and excitement, Seedkit- no, Seedpaw padded over to Poolmist and reached up to touch her nose to hers.
