Rainkit's Apprentice Ceremony

"Let all cats old enough to capture their own... prey gather underneath Jaggedrock for... a clan meeting!" Thrushstar yowled.

Rainkit padded from the nursery, the tip of his tail twitching nervously. He was excited to become an apprentice, to begin learning how to hunt and fight for the clan that had saved him from a terrible fate-- but he was nervous, too. He was afraid that his mentor wouldn't like him, and he was also fearing the ceremony itself, as being the center of attention was the thing Rainkit liked least in the world.

"Tonight we gather to make... this kit an apprentice," Thrushstar said. "Rainkit, from now until you receive... your warrior name, you will be known... as Rainpaw. Your mentor will be Viperfang. May she teach... you everything she knows."

Viperfang padded out from the group of cats and touched noses with her new apprentice. "I'll teach you to be a proper Shadowclan warrior..." she mewed to her apprentice.

Rainpaw padded forward and touched his nose to Viperfang's, his eyes shining happily. She didn't seem to be too mean or stern, at least not yet, so he was excited! As soon as the clan cats began chanting his new name, he paced excitedly in a circle. "Lets go training!" He mewed happily, "I want to hunt!"

"Not now! You should go rest and we'll go hunting in the morning..." she mewed to the over-excited apprentice.
