Cinderpaw's Assessment

Leopardfang waited out in the territory for Cinderpaw. She had been a good apprentice, observing and sharp-witted. He was glad that she would have her warrior ceremony soon, assuming she passed the assessment she was having this night. The spotted tom sat calmly in the snowy opening, eyes half-closed while he patiently sat.

A dark gray stripped tabby she cat with greenish-yellow eyes padded over and sat down in front of her mentor. Cinderpaw patiently awaited her instructions.

She seemed to be ready for her assignment, so he skipped the formalities and got right to the point. "You have until moonhigh to fetch me three pieces of prey. I'll be following you, but don't acknowledge me. I trust that's all the direction you'll need." He meowed, his deep voice rumbling.

Cinderpaw nodded and got to her paws. Padding into the territory she scented the air around her and smelled a frog. Carefully, and quietly she stalked the frog perfectly until she was within pouncing distance. She crouched ready to spring and when she landed on the frog her teeth cut through its skin before it could croak. Burying her first piece of prey she scented around for another one and followed its scent trail to a mouse. She stalked the mouse with the grace of a ballerina and when she was ready she pounced and snapped its neck in two. Burying her mouse with the frog she proceeded to stalk a rather large crow. The bird was sitting on the roots of a tree pecking at the wood for seeds ad bugs, it hadn't noticed her yet. Coming forward in the correct stance, paw-by-paw she came closer until she leaped and landed on the bird and killing it. She then went back to get her other prey and to go find Leopardfang.

He followed after her, impressed with her progress. The prey captured during leafbare would go a long way in keeping the queens and elders strong until newleaf. When she'd gotten her final piece, Leopardfang emerged from the shadows he was hiding in and greeted her with a flick of his ear. "Well done, Cinderpaw. Take this back to camp and give it to the queens. I will speak with Thrushstar about your warrior ceremony."

Cinderpaw nodded and picked up her catch and took it back to camp.
