Climbing treetops [Training for Marshpaw]

OOC: Since Rose isn't around RN, I'll just do this

The sun was barely above the horizon when Duskfall came out of the warrior's den, his glossy brown pelt a little ruffled from sleep. The deputy was up to take his apprentice, Marshpaw to hunt, the weather was looking good and it seemed like a good day to teach. A day like this, he could afford to lose a squirrel or two, the clean breeze would mean other hunters could easily catch enough without relying on the apprentices so much.

So the deputy took his place near the camp entrance, grooming himself patiently while he waited for Marshpaw to join. He was early as per usual, but had no intention of waking the tom up. Punctuality was something that had to be learnt alone, he couldn't be around to wake and instruct his apprentice forever. And he had high hopes for Marshpaw. Bold and righteous. Good qualities in a warrior.

"Hello, Duskfall. I was wondering when you'd come. I've been up for a while." Marshpaw said as he padded out, excitement filling his voice. He was going to ask what to do today, but he kept his mouth shut in fear that Duskfall might think him annoying. He looked up at Duskfall, unmoving. Hmm... Possibilities include: hunting, climbing, patrolling or lecturing. I'm going to guess climbing or hunting.

Duskfall purred in amusement at the apprentice's eagerness to start training at dawn, it was unusual but most certainly welcome. He found most of his apprentices weren't so excited about waking up at the crack of dawn before even the twittering birds had awoken. But there was no mistaking the alert tone in the apprentice's voice, it wasn't the sound sleepy cat. So in turn, he responded with alert calmness, getting up from where he sat to lead the apprentice. His tail flicking for the tom to follow as he spoke. "We'll be working to hunting today. Birds and squirrels, to be more specific. It's time, you're introduced to the fine art of climbing trees. Better not be afraid of heights."

He nodded. "Birds and squirrels. Sounds good." But the he heard climbing trees. "I... I'm not good at climbing trees- I did once but I fell down." Marshpaw said, a little nervously. "But I suppose it never hurts to try..." After all, he was half Skyclan. He just hadn't found his talent yet. Perhaps this training could bring out the best in him.
