Smokekit's Apprentice Ceremony

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather beneath High Rock for a clan meeting!" Duskfall called out from his place on top of High Rock, his green eyes scanning the clearing as his clan gathered beneath him. It was time for another kit to take his place amongst the apprentices and learn to be a warrior. A joyous occasion, they were going to need all their able-bodied cats to hunt in the coming moons.

Fawnwillow jumped up at the call, Another ceremony? Thunderclan will be the strongest clan this Leaf-fall! Purring she sat up front and wrapped her thick tail around her dainty paws.

Smokekit padded out of the nursery. He bounced happily, yet glumly because his parents couldn't be here, towards the high rock.

Bluepaw raced after Smokekit.
"Hold it," she mewed sternly. Then she laughed and smoothed down her brother's fur.

"Smokekit, step forward." Duskfall solemnly meowed, gesturing for the kit to take his place among front of the clan, to finally become an apprentice. It was a coming of age ceremony that wouldn't be forgotten easily. Once Smokekit was in place, he said the sacred words he'd heard at his own ceremony many moons ago. "Smokekit, you've reached the age of six moons, and it's time for you to be apprenticed. From this day onwards until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Smokepaw. Your mentor will be Fawnwillow. She is a fine warrior, having proven herself to the clan many times over. She will teach you all that she knows."

Smokekit, no Smokepaw now, squeaked with glee and touches noses with his new mentor Fawnwillow, also his cousin.

Fawnwillow's heart filled over with joy, but it also grieved with the loss of her last apprentice. She vowed to never forget Goldenflame, and now she vowed to train this young one the best she can. Licking a stray tuft of fur behind Smokepaw's ear she purred happily, "How about a tour before dark?" She checked him for any signs of pains or tiredness, Can't take him out if he's already worn out! Her leaf-green eyes were alight with his enthusiasm.

"Sure i would love to do that! It sounds like so much fun!!" Smokepaw meowed.
