A Magpie Amongst the Cinders [CLOSED]

A rather loud yawn erupted from the warrior's den early in the morning. Inside, stirring in his nest, was Magpiewing who tried stifling yet another yawn. The long nights spent patrolling the borders were beginning to take a toll on the new warrior, but his pride and duty to ShadowClan forced him out of the den. He carefully maneuvered across the mass of sleeping cats. The tom finally escaped, when he was greeted by the slowly rising sun. He squinted his amber eyes as the adjusted to the light. The black warrior licked his lips and stretched his back before approaching the fresh-kill pile and taking a small mouse. Within seconds he was finished and cleaning his face.

Some cats were slowly making their way out of their nests, but most still slept. Magpiewing shook the moss from his dark fur and pulled himself onto his paws before turning to leave camp for the morning. He dragged himself deep into the territory, not minding the mud or puddles he accidentally stepped in from time to time.

The tom leapt onto a small dead pine tree, resting his legs before hunting. He closed his eyes and laid down, listening to the scuttling of prey and the swaying of trees in the breeze. He could faintly hear the monsters roaring on the Thunderpath, but paid no heed. Instead he enjoyed the serenity of morning in ShadowClan. That was, until a twig cracked beneath him. "W-wha.." he mumbled and looked down with drowsy, golden eyes.

OOC: So is Cindershade preggo already or..? lol

IC: Cindershade, still drowsy from her sleep, noticed some cats in the warriors' den already emerging from their nests. The she-cat thought it was time too, heaving as she pushed herself from her nest. Her swollen belly was becoming more obvious, and she was sure that in a few moons, kits would arrive. The she-cat would have to stay in the nursery soon, and she didn't like the thought of that. It was always crowded in there, with kits mewling and growing, and queens arriving and leaving from time to time. As long as Magpiewing is here, he will be so proud of our kits. With that thought in mind, Cindershade wandered where the tom went off to.

Poking her head outside from the den, she noticed the black tom departing towards the territory. Cindershade decided to follow, as the tom did leave alone. She followed his scent, as the she-cat kept her distance. Finally, the scent came to a stop, as Cindershade found Magpiewing resting. He looks so peaceful! Padding closer to the tom, a twig snapped under her paw, waking up the black tom. Mouse-dung! "Oh, it's only me, Cindershade!" she mewed to Magpiewing. Curiously, Cindershade asked, "What are you doing out here alone?" She noticed that the tom must be tired, yet relaxed to be out here in the territory, instead of his own nest.

Magpiewing began purring as soon as he spotted his mate staring up at him. He jumped down and nuzzled the gray she-cat, before sitting down and licking his paw in embarrassment. "Uh, yeah, it gets kinda crowded and warm in the warrior's den. It's really quite peaceful out here and I just needed some fresh air," he responded looking around at the marsh. He paused to stare at Cindershade, only just now noticing her extended belly. Despite spending so much time with her, he had been too dim-witted to notice her pregnant belly. Even now, he couldn't be sure.

"You may want to lay off the frogs there," he chuckled, swiping his paw over her ear.
