Golden's training

Fawnwillow nudged her apprentice out of camp excitedly, she had hardly slept at all thinking of all the things they were going to do. Despite not sleeping that had hardly made a dent in her bubbly personality. "Hurry Goldenpaw! First let's check the borders, then we can go over what we learned and maybe hunt! Oh I hope the squirrels will be awake they're my favorite!" She chirped like a starling, prancing on her white paws. Green eyes wide, almost kit-like, in excitement with her soft brown pelt fluffing out.

The yellow tabby raced out of camp with his over-excited mentor. "I'm excited to start training with you, too, Fawnwillow. I prefer mice rather than squirrels, though." He gave his mentor a cheery smile. 

Fawnwillow did a loud dramatic gasp, "How could anyone not like squirrels?" Purring she picked up the pace and slowed at the nearest border. Coming to a halt and sitting on the roots of an older oak tree she looked around, carefully observing her surroundings while scenting at the same time. Twitching her fluffy tail signaling for him to do the same.

Goldenpaw sat down next to his mentor, observing the trees and the fluttering leaves hanging overhead. It was simply beautiful; and the chirping of birds topped it. It was truly a shame that the forest cats had to eat the birds as prey. "I.. like squirrels, I just prefer mice over them. Nothing complicated."

Fawnwillow nodded before speaking, "I know we're on patrol, and we will work on marking in a moment. But I want you to practice scenting the border, other clans, and any enemies. As well as observe your surroundings for anything odd. Normally on a patrol you have to all of that while moving and it is difficult so first let's try sitting in one spot" She perked her stubby ears and watched her apprentice, interested to see if he could detect anything unusual.

"I smell.... ShadowClan, WindClan, and our border markers." He decided, confidently puffing out his chest. "Enemies... I smell a stale scent of a fox, snake scents from Snakerocks, and... I think that's it." He purred, heavy scents of prey drifting into his nose. "I also smell starlings and robins."

Fawnwillow nodded and padded towards the border, secretly proud of her apprentice. He's got the best nose in Thunderclan! Her thoughts making her tail twitch in excitement. Pausing at the border she signaled for him to mark. "Now let's use all that we practiced, in motion! While we're marking remember to scent and observe, never be too distracted!" She mewed cautiously.

The tabby let his tail hang high as he trotted through bushes, marking the marker. "What next, Fawnwillow? Can we mark more borders?" He asked, sitting down and letting his tail sway calmly behind him. Wow, Fawnwillow's the best mentor I could have! I wonder how Minnowpaw and Rookpaw are?

Fawnwillow purred proudly, "Of course! Would you like to lead?" She mewed and stepped back to let him decide where to go next.

Fawnwillow trilled in pleasure, "Great job! But remember a mouse is very sensitive so stalk it quietly" She nosed through a nearby thicket and demonstrated getting within a whiskers length before swiping with her claws and ending its life.

"Cool!" He purred, watching closely as his mentor demonstrated, brilliantly.

Twitching her ears she nodded towards the closest bush, "In there!" She nudged him forward towards the sounds of scuffling prey.
