| Sunpelt slid into his mate's nest, and very gently curled his body around his kits so that he and Cloverpool were in the form of this: Sunpelt's forepaws touched Cloverpool's front paws, and Sunpelt's hind paws touched Cloverpool's hind paws; the kits were in the small circle that their parents had created for them.

Minnowkit finished nursing and went to explore she smelled her mother and another scent that was soothing. She crawled over to that strange scent it knowing it was her father since she was still blind. |

| What's a mom and dad!? He thought, whimpering quietly. He snuggled against his mother, purring. When he smelled the milk, he immediately darted away and started suckling. The sweet taste of milk rushed down his small throat, making him feel more happy and content.

| Sunpelt purred with laughter. He tried to gently shake Minnowkit off of his shoulder, but her claws were too sharp; they dug in hard, but not too hard. "Hello, little Minnowkit," Sunpelt murmured to his daughter. "I'm sure you'll grow up nice and strong one day."
He lay down and carefully nudged Minnowkit off of his back. He gave her head a few licks, and then lay her back down in Cloverpool's nest. I thought I would love Minnowkit and Goldenkit in the same way as I love Cloverpool, Sunpelt thought to himself. But these two types of love are so much different. I still love the kits and Cloverpool the same, but it feels so different.
The yellow tabby caught his mate's eye, and he smiled.
